RVT was created to show the faces of those killed on our roads. Keeping them real and reminding people that they are not just a statistic. Gone!

They were here one moment, and gone the next. Inspired by the deaths of 3 family members in seperate accidents on Tasmanian roads, through no fault of their own...
Post a picture of someone (in the photo section) you have lost on our roads and let their death save someone else's life. Push the fact that it can happen to anyone. Real people, real faces, and real lives. Make sure you add some information on who they were. This group is a continuation of road safety awareness, shock tactics, a plea for proactive road works, and a community memorial we have been attempting to get funding for through the Government. It is our mission to one day achieve this, for everyone! Please ensure you seek permission from immediate family members and make family and friends aware of what you are doing to avoid any further upset of their loss. Furthermore, please do not mention names of people involved in accidents and Aboriginals and TSI need to be aware that this page contains photos of deceased persons which may offend some viewers. Matt Whayman - 1999

Matt was 26 years old when he was killed on the Midlands Highway in the back seat of a company car on the 26th March 1999.

An adored son to Carol and Conley, and a brother to Mike.

Mark Eli Latham - 1995

Otherwise known as Fish or Munga, Mark died on the 30th of April in 1995 south of Huonville.

After a few drinks and a lift home some of the way, he started to walk the remainder but never made it.

A cherished and funny man who enjoyed fishing and a bit of a party, he was a true country man who wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

Jari Wise - 2020

Jari was 26 years old when he was killed on Wilmot Road, Huonville on the 29th of February 2020.

A father to two beautiful children who he adored, and a man who loved his job, fixing things, fishing, camping, and catching up with mates. Jari was a shy person with a sweet and kind smile.

Paul Robertson - 2013

At 25 years old, Paul died on the back roads of Judbury while riding his motorbike on the 30th of March 2013.

He was a much loved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He had the biggest heart and loved to have a few b**rs.

I’m very grateful to everyone who has connected with me over the last five weeks with photos and stories.

Posting at least one Face/Photo each day, speaking with hundreds of people, and seeing this page reach nearly five million views, shows that the reality of road trauma is being felt beyond those directly affected.

For many, it’s easy to forget — easy to miss how one small decision, possibly combined with someone else’s mistake, can lead to a deeply regretful moment.

The support for this page and the awareness it has created has been truly incredible.

Wendy Murphy - 1988

At age 20, Wendy died on the Lyell Highway in Granton TAS. Wendy was a much loved daughter, sister, aunty and friend.

Wendy was training to be an Enrolled Nurse at Willow Court when she died.

Kevin Mills - 1981

Just one month before his 21st birthday, Kevin tragically lost his life in a high-speed accident at Landfall Hill while travelling back to Georgetown on 2 April 1981.

He was a happy guy who loved a b**r and socialising with friends.

Jayden Field - 2013

At 19 years old, Jayden died on Jindabyne Road in Kingston TAS on the 24th of November 2013.

He was a beautiful, caring, and funny young man, full of potential and dreams of one day becoming a builder.

So dearly loved and missed 💕

Andrew Richards - 2018

(INDIRECT ROAD VICTIM)

Andrew survived a serious accident on the Midlands Highway on 27 July 1996. Although he was not at fault, he carried the weight of that day for many years and blamed himself. Following a battle with his mental health, Andrew died by su***de in 2018.

Andrew was into his computers, camping, and adored his cats.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowlege the many survivors of road trauma, who are expected to go on like nothing happened. Whether they are at fault or not, the unseen scars are an incredible weight to carry.
