🌏 OUR CLIMATE FUTURE: WHY EMPOWERING WOMEN AND GIRLS IS ESSENTIAL

What will a changing climate mean for future generations?

Rising climate pressures can increase poverty and food insecurity, disrupt girls' education, threaten livelihoods and leave women and girls more vulnerable to exploitation.

In the final part of our four-part series, Trina McLellan explores the longer-term consequences of climate change and why empowering women and girls is crucial to creating a fairer, safer and more resilient future.

As this series concludes, one message stands out: women are environmental stewards, the backbone of resilience, and agents of change.

🔥 🌧️ CLIMATE CHANGE: A GROWING CHALLENGE FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS

From Australia's devastating Black Summer bushfires to destructive floods, powerful cyclones and prolonged droughts around the world, climate-related disasters are affecting millions of lives.

But the consequences don't end when the flames die down or the floodwaters recede.

In Part 3 of our series, Trina McLellan explores how climate disasters can deepen existing inequalities and increase the risks of violence and hardship for women and girls.

Why must climate action also address gender inequality? And what can we do to help build safer, more resilient communities?

🌿 CLIMATE DISASTERS DON'T AFFECT EVERYONE EQUALLY

When disaster strikes, the challenges facing women and girls can extend far beyond the immediate loss of homes and livelihoods. Access to sanitation, healthcare, food, water and personal safety can become urgent concerns.

In Part 2 of our four-part series, Trina McLellan examines what respected international institutions tell us about the growing climate crisis and the disproportionate risks faced by women and girls in disaster-affected communities.

Are we prepared for the challenges ahead — and are we doing enough to protect those most at risk?
