Join community members and leaders from across Melbourne’s west for the first public Assembly of the Our West, Our Future Alliance.

The Assembly will bring together organisations from across Melbourne’s west and Geelong to strengthen relationships, launch a region-wide listening campaign and build a shared agenda for action. Political representatives have been invited to listen and respond.

When is the event: Tue 15 Sep 6.30pm
Where: Italian Sports Club, Werribee
Who should apply: We invite members, volunteers and leaders of community organisations, faith communities, neighbourhood houses, multicultural organisations and unions to attend.

We are still buzzing from last night's Member's meeting!

Around 60 members from our Alliance of community, faith, union and climate groups gathered at Cloverdale Community Centre to endorse our new policy areas & commit to taking action. Over the next three year, we will be fighting for:

💛Increasing social & affordable housing, strengthening renters’ rights and pushing for community housing support

💛Affordable energy bills for all, better public transport and meaningful, safe and local work for Geelong workers

💛 Reducing social isolation, expanding women's health services & properly funding neighbourhood houses

Housing is the foundation of equality, dignity, and a fair go for everyone in our community.

Yesterday, Real Deal Geelong had an honest and hopeful discussion with Deputy PM Richard Marles MP and Minister for Housing Clare O'Neil MP about the reforms needed to improve the experience of Geelong renters, from social through to private tenants.

Minister O’Neil is interested in attending our upcoming Forum in Geelong's Northern suburbs and Minister Marles enthusiastically endorsed. A great meeting!

Young people in Geelong deserve access to mental health support when they need it 🫶
this is a key policy priority for our Alliance and we are thrilled to see the expansion of Headspace Geelong’s services.

Big news for headspace Geelong today. It's going to be one of the first headspace centres nationally to be expanded into a headspace Plus. This means more services and more staff.

Deputy PM and Corio MP Richard Marles visited the centre with Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Su***de Prevention Emma McBride to make the announcement alongside headspace staff, youth advocates and supporters including their CEO Jason Trethowan and Western Victoria Primary Health Network's CEO Craig Wilding.
