It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of CAPT. (AAC)-Retired Leona. Ward (Mrs Ward), who departed peacefully this morning at the hospital.

We share this update on behalf of Craig, Jason, Leif, Clinton, Shelley Ward, and the entire Ward family.

Honoring a Remarkable Legacy
Mrs. Ward was far more than a colleague or a leader; she was the heartbeat of our organisation for many years. We remember her today for her tireless service and the many hats she wore, a cornerstone of our operations, her dedication over the years set a standard for us all.
She led with integrity and strength, shaping the direction of the unit through her very unique style of leadership.
She possessed a rare gift for recognising potential in others, investing her time and wisdom into the next generation of Cadets.
Perhaps most importantly, she provided the warmth, guidance, and "tough love" that earned her the title of Unit Mum. She looked out for everyone under her care as if they were her own.

Support and Celebration
I am sure you will all join me in standing with the Ward family during this incredibly difficult time.

Let us ensure they feel the full weight of our support behind them.

A celebration of her life is currently being planned to honour her extraordinary contributions and character.

Further details regarding the service will be released as soon as they become available.
"To lead is to serve, and to serve is to love." Mrs. Ward embodied this every day.

She will be deeply missed.

I am sad to be sharing this, after seeking permission from the family.

Ma’am Ward, a well-known figure to our unit, who dedicated 28 years to the AAC and 25ACU is currently in hospital receiving end-of-life care due to dementia.

I’m sure many of you following this page will join me in keeping Craig, Jason, Leif, Clinton and Shell along with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their families in our thoughts.

Ma’am Ward cared for many cadets. While firm, she was always up for a laugh and brought joy to countless parade nights, BIVs and AFXs throughout her years in uniform. I urge everyone to remember and share those stories so we can all lean on each other during this difficult time.

Ma’am Ward, thank you for everything.

Today 25ACU took part in several services. From Davistown to Ettalong, Palmdale, Gosford and The Entrance.
All cadets should be proud of themselves for the commitment and showing up.
Comments received were all positive.

Thank you to all cadets and your parents for everything today.
We also thank our servicemen and women of whom we pay our respects to.

25ACU performed catafalque duties at Central Coast Lodge last night.

The cadets that attended did a fantastic job.
They were treated to dinner afterwards and listened to some inspirational speeches and watched a slideshow from some members recent visit to the Burma railway, Hellfire pass.

This is the first of many activities 25 will be taking part in for ANZAC Day.

We would like to thank Central Coast Lodge for the invitation and making us all feel welcome.
