πŸ™Œ Right, it's Tuesday, we've had a lie down, and we're finally ready to talk about it.

What. A. Weekend. To every single one of you who came down to our 50% off sale: thank you, you magnificent bargain-loving wonders. You came, you saw, you conquered the racks, and boy did you clear some shelves. Our overstock has officially left the building, and it did not go quietly.

A special shout out to your patience at the register. That queue had a real "epic saga" energy to it, and you handled it like absolute champions. No grumbling, no drama, just good humour and armfuls of treasure. We love you for it!

Every dollar you spent goes straight back into supporting our work here at Fairhaven, so you didn't just score a bargain, you did a genuinely lovely thing. Financial genius AND community hero, exactly as promised.

Thank you, from all of us. πŸ’š

🚨 ATTENTION BARGAIN HUNTERS. This is not a drill.

This weekend everything in store goes 50% OFF, and honestly our overstock is getting a bit much. It's been loitering out the back, eyeing off the shelves, whispering "is it my time yet?" Friends, it is finally their time.

So here's the plan. You turn up. You buy lovely things for half of not-very-much. You leave feeling like a financial genius and a community hero all at once. We clear the racks. Everybody wins.

πŸ—“οΈ Saturday 29 Aug, 9am to 3.30pm
πŸ—“οΈ Sunday 30 Aug, 10am to 2pm

Bring a friend. Bring an enemy. Bring a strong sense of self-control, then leave it in the car where it belongs.

See you at the Op Shopping Village this weekend, you absolute legends. Our shelves are counting on you. πŸ’š

Look who's made the headlines!

We're absolutely overjoyed to see our wonderful supported employee Jade front and centre on the landing page of Coast Community News, spreading the word about our Central Coast Stories project. Trolley loaded, smile blazing, ready to take on the world.

Jade, you're a superstar!

For anyone who missed it: Central Coast Stories is our new community project inviting locals to donate an object with a Central Coast connection and share the story behind it, all part of the glow-up happening in the antiques department at our Op Shopping Village in Point Clare. Every object has a tale to tell, and we'd love to hear yours.

Have a read and start thinking about what you might bring us. πŸ’š

A quick heads-up from all of us at Fairhaven Op Shopping Village!

From tomorrow (Tuesday), we're pausing donations for one week so we can get back on top of things after the roof closure. Please hold onto your treasures until we reopen the donations shed. And we're so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

But we'd never leave you empty-handed... To sweeten the deal, we're throwing a HALF PRICE weekend! This Saturday and Sunday, everything in the op shop is 50% off. We've got overstock that's desperate to meet you and shelves that need clearing, so come do your civic duty: buy lovely things at half price. It's basically volunteering, but with shopping bags.

Mark your calendars:
🚫 Donations paused from Tuesday (one week only)

Thank you for your patience this week, you legends! πŸ’š

We're a little bit chuffed over here.

Fairhaven Op Shopping Village has been named a Regional Finalist for Outstanding Community Organisation at the 2026 Central Coast Business Awards!

We're in wonderful company too. A big congratulations to our fellow finalists Everyday Ability, FunHaus Factory, Pacific Link Housing, Coast FM 963, Central Coast Community Women's Health Centre, Bara Barang Corporation, and Regional Youth Support Services. So much good work happening across our community!

Thank you to Business NSW Central Coast and category sponsor Optus. And the biggest thank you of all to our incredible volunteers, staff, and supported employees, and to every single one of you who shops, donates, and cheers us on.

Comments like this are genuinely upsetting to our hard-working volunteers, who give their time so generously to support people with disability in our community. To see their integrity questioned publicly, based on a misunderstanding, is disheartening for the whole team.

We'd like to gently set the record straight. The situation being referred to relates to an anonymous letter we received, which named the person who had listed the item online. That person is a member of the public, not a staff member or volunteer at Fairhaven. We just have spectacular sorters who work very hard to get items to our shelves quickly.

We also have strict policies in place: every retail suitable donated item must be on our shelves and available to the public for a minimum of 24 hours before any staff member or volunteer is permitted to purchase it. Our team follows these rules carefully, precisely because we value the trust our donors place in us.

We understand how these things can spread, and we don't blame anyone for sharing a concern. But we'd ask kindly that our wonderful volunteers not be caught in the middle of it. They deserve so much better.

If you have concerns about anything here at the op shop, you are welcome to email us at [email protected] as we're always happy to talk about what we do here.

Thank you for hearing us out. πŸ’š

SO. MANY. CLOTHES. (Please Send Help β€” Volunteers Wanted)

Every week, the good people of the Central Coast donate their clothes to us. Beautiful clothes. Weird clothes. Clothes that make you go "who bought this, why, and are they okay?" And someone has to sort through it all.

That someone could be you.

We're after volunteers for our Clothing Department, and the job is exactly as glamorous as it sounds: sorting, hanging, and occasionally holding up a garment to the light and whispering "…bold choice". You'll bring order to chaos. You'll rescue a genuinely gorgeous coat that someone nearly gave up on. You'll develop a personal vendetta against wire hangers.

The perks:
- You will find things. Incredible things. And approximately nine thousand beige cardigans, all apparently from the same shop, all from 1997.
- You will become a clothing hanging legend. Racks will straighten themselves in your presence out of sheer respect.
- You'll make actual friends, because it turns out sorting clothes and chatting is a powerful combination.

The catch: none, really. No experience needed, just reliability, comfortable shoes, and an unwillingness to be humbled by bags of donations at least once a week. We'll teach you everything else.

And here's the bit that actually matters: every hour you give directly supports people with disability here on the Central Coast. So yes, you'd be doing a genuinely good thing. You'd just be doing it surrounded by piles of pants.

Interested? Slightly nosy? Email [email protected] and we'll tell you more. The cardigans aren't going to sort themselves. Believe me, we've asked.

β˜” Roof Update: A Happy Ending (Mostly)

You'll be pleased to know the roof is on, and not a moment too soon. It went up just in time for the rain to arrive in enthusiastic bursts, which felt like the universe putting the new roof straight to the test. We've had one cheeky leak (of course we have), but on the whole it's holding up nicely.

We've been back open since Saturday, and it's been so lovely seeing everyone through the doors again.

There are a few finishing touches still to come, but we shouldn't need to close again (fingers, toes, and gutters crossed).

Thank you for your patience through the great roof saga of 2026. We're absolutely delighted to have you back. Come and say hello, rain or shine! πŸ’š

πŸ™ƒ Roof Update: The Saga Continues

So the roof works are taking a little longer than planned, and the closure has now been extended up to and including Friday 14 August.

To keep everyone safe, please don't access the site during this time, including using it as a shortcut from Margaret Street through to Brisbane Water Drive.

We also need to ask, very sincerely, that you please don't leave any donations at the moment. We've put signs up, but things are still appearing at our door. Right now we can't process donations, so unfortunately anything left outside may get damp and dirty overnight and will have to be disposed of. We really don't like seeing donations go to waste, and disposing of items costs us money, and that's money diverted away from our fantastic services supporting Central Coast people living with disability.

We're genuinely sorry for the inconvenience to anyone wishing to donate and we will be open again this coming Saturday.

Thanks so much for your patience and understanding. We really will be back before you know it. πŸ’š

πŸ™ƒ Roof Update: Take Two

Right, so last time we announced the roof works, the roof politely declined. This time we've had a word, and it's agreed to show up.

The Op Shopping Village will be closed on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 August while the new roofing goes on (for real this time... probably).

We'll be back open as usual straight after. And please hold onto your donations during the closure, as anything left outside is likely to end up damaged.

Fingers, toes, and roof sheets crossed. See you on the other side! πŸ’š
