The Bara Barang team braved the weather this morning to be ‘ALL IN’ for reconciliation. At Bara Barang we see the value of walking together to create impact within our community.

Check out the video created by our Friends at Barang Regional Alliance from today at the Coast Shelter march for reconciliation today, keep an eye out for a couple of familiar Bara Barang faces!

We have another location! We’ve found additional space due to the growth of our team, at C-Cubed Cowork up on Level 3, 107-109 Mann Street in the Gosford CBD. You’ll still find us in the cottage behind the Gosford Anglican Church, where we will retain a presence. Here’s some of our team at the new space!

Did you hear Aunty Bronwyn Chambers on ABC Central Coast this morning? A grandmother and grandson on the New South Wales Central Coast are on a journey to revitalise their Darkinyung language and place names.

Did you hear Aunty Di O'Brien from Mingaletta Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Corporation on ABC Central Coast this morning, talking about National Sorry Day?

Each year, 26 May marks National Sorry Day, acknowledging the Stolen Generations — Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children forcibly removed from their families between the mid-1800s and 1970s — and the tabling of the Bringing them home report in 1997.

Aunty Di was also interviewed on ABC Central Coast from back in 2021 and here is the link

From Stolen Generation to community leader, Aunty Di finally discovered she was not only Aboriginal, but also related to a famous Indigenous activist!

We have been involved in the Trade Readiness Program and the Cubby House Project, held at West Gosford with 15 Aboriginal high school students learning construction skills over three weeks. The project is funded by NSW Department of Education Regional Industry Education Partnership Program, delivered by Novaskill - RTO 6996 and supported by us as a Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, especially for the Aboriginal Mentoring component, a critical piece in the partnership. Our own proud Aboriginal staff member Cameron features in the NBN news piece, and we are glad that Eleanor Duncan Aboriginal Services will be the recipient of the completed Cubby House with handover on the final day tomorrow!
