24/7 Care Disability Services and Activity Hub has placed third in the Disability Inclusion category at the Women Changing the World Awards, and that recognition has now been recorded in Parliamentary Hansard, the official record of the NSW 58th Parliament, by the Hon. David Harris MP, Member for Wyong.

I want to be careful about where the credit sits.
What gets recognised is the outcome. What produces it is 45+ support workers and coordinators across the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie, Hunter and Newcastle, doing unglamorous, skilled, consistent work the community access run that finally clicks, the day program activity built around one person’s goal, the yard maintenance job that gives someone their independence back.

And it’s produced by 60+ participants who set the direction. Choice and control isn’t a compliance phrase to us. It’s the operating model.

With Over Twenty-eight years in this sector has taught me that inclusion is built in the ordinary hours, not the ceremonies. But I’ll take the reminder that the ordinary hours are worth something.

Thank you to Mr Harris. A Hansard record doesn’t expire, and neither does what it says about the people who earned it. That matters to a workforce that rarely gets seen.
