🚒 Group 6 Training | Hydraulic Relay Pumping – The Ridgeway, Central Coast 🚒

Crews from Group 6, And Fire and Rescue NSW recently participated in training at The Ridgeway on the Central Coast, focusing on hydraulic relay pumping.

Training like this allows crews to strengthen their skills, improve coordination and work together to maintain operational readiness when responding to incidents across the region.

A great effort by all crews involved in developing their skills and supporting community safety. 👨‍🚒💪

🚨 FIRE BAN FOR CENTRAL COAST – EXTREME FIRE DANGER TOMORROW 🚨

The NSW Rural Fire Service has declared an EXTREME Fire Danger Rating and a TOTAL FIRE BAN for the Central Coast tomorrow, Monday 12 October 2026.
Hot, dry, and windy conditions mean that if a fire starts, it will spread quickly and be incredibly difficult to control.

Take action now to protect your life and property.

🚒 What you need to do:
• Review your Bush Fire Survival Plan with your household tonight.
• Know your trigger point—know exactly when you will leave and where you will go.
• Download the Hazards Near Me NSW app and set up your watch zone.
• Report any unattended fires immediately to Triple Zero (000).

🔥 Attention Central Coast Residents 🔥

The Bush Fire Danger Period has started for the Central Coast
The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) has officially commenced the Bush Fire Danger Period as of 1 October 2026.
To keep our community safe, strict fire regulations are now legally in force across the region:
• Permits Required: You must obtain a free NSW RFS Fire Permit before lighting any open fires or pile burns.
• 24-Hour Notice: You are required to notify your neighbours and local fire authorities at least 24 hours before burning.
• Total Fire Bans: All permits are automatically suspended on Total Fire Ban days.
Please prepare your property, review your survival plan, and check the daily Fire Danger Ratings.
To apply for a free permit or check today's rating, visit rfs.nsw.gov.au.

Kingcumber Stage 1 Hazard Reduction 🔥👨‍🚒

Erina crews have been busy undertaking the Kingcumber Stage 1 Hazard Reduction, helping reduce fuel loads and the risk of bushfire impacting the surrounding community. The operation provided crews with valuable experience in safely conducting planned burning while working together to protect the community and environment.

Erina crew has had a busy weekend!🚒🚨

On Saturday, our members attended the SES Family Day, strengthening relationships with our partner agencies and taking part in live demonstrations, including a simulated vertical rescue.

Later that day, Erina responded to the Bandaroo Road Fire at Calga, joining Strike Team ALPHA to provide property protection alongside helicopter crews and the Sydney Strike Team.

On Sunday, our crew joined NPWS at the Maculata Hazard Reduction, conducting night patrols and supporting a low-intensity burn—providing valuable experience for our newer firefighters.

A huge thank you to the SES, NPWS, Sydney Strike Team and Gosford Catering for a fantastic weekend of teamwork and learning!

And a special shout out to all the fathers who spent part of their Father’s Day weekend away from their families and out protecting our communities.

Last Friday was a busy day for Erina! All three appliances were out, with both trucks at a Hazard Reduction and the boat out for maintenance checks.

The HR at Appletree Road was successful in reducing fuel load and provided valuable learning experience for some of our newest members in preparation for Bush Fire Danger Period.

The boat maintenance run also provided a great opportunity for some training to sharpen our skills 💪🏼🔥

🔥Hazard Reduction - Mt White ALPHA completed🔥
Last Saturday, our RFS crews carried out a successful hazard reduction burn in Mt White as part of our ongoing preparations of a multi stage hazard reduction for the upcoming bush fire period.
By reducing excess fuel load, we've lowered potential fire risk in the area while also giving our firefighters valuable hands-on training.

A big thank you to the Mt White community for your patience and support while the work was underway-together, we're making our region safer and more resilient.

We would also like to thank Trent Curtin for visiting us out on the fire line it was nice to have a chat!

Erina crews have been busy over the past weekend 👨‍🚒🛥️

On Saturday crew from Erina participated in the group 5 and group 7 training activity providing support and as a safety truck with 2 BA operators for the live fire training prop scenario and crew to operated the simulated fire

On Sunday Erina crew members took to the water to complete the practical component of their fire boat crew course and complete their training to become qualified fireboat crew. Interesting fact Brisbane water boat crewed by Erina holds a critically vital role in the safety of the Central Coast allowing us to access areas that are not accessible by conventional means
