VEGAN GOLDEN SYRUP DUMPLINGS

A classic, warm, and deliciously rich dessert for a cosy trip down memory lane.
Reel and recipe by

INGREDIENTS (Serves 4)

✴ Syrup
🌱3/4 cup brown sugar
🌱50 g vegan margarine
🌱1/3 cup golden syrup
🌱2 cup water

✴ Dumplings
🌱1.5 cup self raising flour
🌱pinch of salt
🌱3/4 cup soy milk
🌱50 g vegan margarine
🌱1 Tbsp golden syrup

METHOD

✴ Syrup
1. Combine all syrup ingredients into a large pot, bring to a simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally.

✴ Dumplings
1. Add flour, salt and margarine to a medium size mixing bowl. Gently rub with your fingertips until evenly combined.
2. Add soy milk and golden syrup and mix well until it forms a smooth batter.
3. Spoon dollops of batter into the syrup. The dumplings will swell as they cook. Allow to simmer for 10 minutes on one side, before gently flipping onto the other side. Use a large serving spoon to avoid breaking the dumplings when flipping. Continue to simmer for a further 10 minutes. Insert a skewer to check if thoroughly cooked.
4. Serve immediately with vegan vanilla ice cream.

Which sport has the most vegan athletes? 🥦🏅

We teamed up with our friends at Great Vegan Athletes to see where veganism is the most prevalent.

The top contenders:

👉 Endurance sports (where recovery is king)
👉 Strength sports (breaking the animal protein myth)
👉 Martial arts & combat sports (fuelling precision & agility)

From ultra-marathoners like Harvey Lewis to world-class powerlifters like Sophia Ellis, elite athletes are ditching animal products for ethics AND a massive competitive edge:

✅ Accelerated recovery times
✅ Reduced inflammation
✅ Sustained energy

It’s no longer about whether you can compete as a vegan – it's about how much better you might perform because of it. 🌱🚀

Vegan Chick'n & Rice Bowl drizzled in an agave-mustard dressing. 🌱
This is the 2nd recipe by our favourite sim-racer, Steven Carlile of ETHiX Racing Team, for the series.

The bowl is layered with baby spinach, fluffy rice, chewy soy curls, caramelised sweet potato & Brussels sprouts, all tied together with a bright agave-mustard drizzle.

It's a perfect power boost to maintain high-level focus over long racing sessions. Steven says, the recipe is "all about steady energy: slow‑burning carbs, high‑quality plant protein, and roasted veggies that keep you feeling grounded through every stint."

Go Team! 🏁🌱

Celebrate love this Valentine’s Day with something sweet, delicious and completely free from animal exploitation. 💚🍫🌱

This White Chocolate Bark created for Vegan Easy is a beautiful, homemade treat to share with the people you love.

Creamy, dreamy and topped with berries and pistachios, it’s simple to make and perfect for gifting.

Ingredients:
- 100g raw cacao butter (grate or chop if you’re using a bar/chunks)
- 40g coconut milk powder, sifted
- 30g icing sugar, sifted
- 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste

For toppings
- Freeze dried berries
- Pistachios

Instructions:
1. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.⁣
2. Place a sauce pan on the stovetop. Pour 2-3 cm of water and heat to boil. Turn off the heat.
3. Place the cacao butter in a stainless bowl large enough to completely cover the top of the pan, so as to not let the steam escape. Place it above the pot, making sure that the bowl is not touching the water.
4. After melting the cacao butter in the bowl, add the rest of the ingredients (omitting the toppings) and whisk the mixture until smooth.
5. Pour the mixture into the prepared tray. Sprinkle your choice of toppings and chill in a freezer until set.
6. Take out from the pan and break into pieces. Put them in an airtight container. Store them in a fridge or a freezer. Enjoy!

Cut out processed foods for a few weeks, and you’ll be amazed how good healthy foods can taste.
When switching to a low-salt diet, for example, everything might taste like cardboard at first.

But research shows that over the next several weeks, taste buds adapt.

✅ Participants started preferring the taste of salt-free soup over salty versions.
✅ They added less salt themselves the longer they stayed on a low-salt diet.
✅ By the end of the study, soup tasted just as salty to them—even with half the amount of salt.

If you've ever been on a sodium-restricted diet, you know how salted foods can start tasting too salty. You just naturally start favoring less salty food.

A similar thing can happen with fat, too.
➔ The less fat we eat, the more sensitive to fat our taste buds appear to become, which may lead to spontaneous reductions in butter, meat, dairy, and eggs.

Salt may override this effect, so it may be helpful to cut down on fat and salt simultaneously.

There is a brain component to this, too.
➔ People who regularly eat ice cream (which contains sugar and fat) have a dulled dopamine response when drinking a milkshake. Once we’ve dulled our dopamine response, we may then overeat in an effort to achieve the degree of satisfaction previously experienced.
➔ In contrast, diets rich in whole plant foods don’t lead to a deadened dopamine response––even with the same number of calories. So, they help us achieve natural satisfaction without overeating.

The longer we eat healthier, whole foods, the better they taste. Don’t believe us? Go ahead and put it to the test!
