Yesterday was a proud day to be a Victorian.
After what’s been a really difficult time for many in our state, this moment feels especially important.
We applaud the tireless work of Elders, advocates, communities and organisations who have contributed to this historic milestone, not just over the past decade, but across generations.
The Treaty process is not just symbolic - it’s delivering real, structural change that will enrich everyone in our state, including:
⚫ A permanent, democratically elected Assembly that puts decision-making power in the hands of First Peoples
🟡Truth-telling and healing across communities, including the teaching of true history in Victorian schools
🔴 Recognition and celebration of First Peoples through official events and reviving First People's place naming
⚫ A First Peoples’ Institute to grow leadership
🟡 Investment in infrastructure to maintain community facilities
