First meetings, lasting friendships - Community Club (ACVVS)

Our Community Club is all about bringing people together - creating friendships, sharing stories, and making sure everyone feels connected and supported.

This first meeting between a volunteer and client is a beautiful example of how a simple conversation can grow into genuine connection -companionship, belonging, and moments that truly make a difference.

At C Care, we're building a stronger, more connected community, one relationship at a time.

Ever wondered what happens to root vegetables after they are harvested?

We got to see it for ourselves - watching Red Gem's potatoes and onions go from harvest, to washed, sorted and carefully checked, before making their way into homes across the country. It's a process we walked away with a real appreciation for.

15 varieties, and so much care behind every single one. Because for us, it's never just about the produce - it's about nourishment that's meaningful, and knowing our community receives the very best, every time.

12/08/2026

The C Care team took a trip down to the Red Gem Growers & Packers facility in Nar Nar Goon, to see firsthand where their fresh root vegetables - 15 varieties of potatoes and onions - begin their paddock-to-plate journey, from harvest through to distributor shelves.

Because of businesses like Red Gem Growers & Packers, we don't just rely on rescued vegetables. Our recipients get the same premium potatoes, sourced direct from farmers, at the best price without compromise.

We are so grateful for this ongoing partnership. Dignity starts with what's on the plate and that is what C Care is able to offer thanks to teams like theirs. We hope to visit again soon!

The team from Link Financial swapped spreadsheets for stovetops last week, joining C Care for a MasterChef-style cooking challenge built for corporate teams.

After learning just how widespread food insecurity really is across Australia, groups were handed rescued produce, a countdown clock, and a healthy dose of rivalry to see who could plate up the goods.

No fancy qualifications required - just a group of colleagues who rolled up their sleeves, worked as a team, and turned an afternoon in the kitchen into something that actually mattered.

Thank you so much for bringing enthusiasm and care our hub, we hope to see you again soon!

If you would like to book your team in for a meaningful team building experience please get in touch with Zoe Fein via [email protected].

Meet the Volunteer Series - Lindy Spicer, our reigning queen of chicken soup!

One of C Care's longest-serving (and committed) volunteers, Lindy's story started at the beginning of COVID in 2020 - all because Shlomo asked for a hand with the weekly chicken soup batch in our kitchen HQ. That one favour turned into a full-blown residency. But chicken soup isn't the only thing she's cooked up over the years. Along the way, Lindy has cooked alongside our head chef, involved in our pantry packing program, and even stepped up as a session leader.

Thank you, Lindy, for the endless love and care you bring to our hub. We are so lucky to have you stirring things up here at C Care in the best possible way (and the soup pot too)!

We always welcome new faces! If you want to find out more or enquire about how you can get involved, visit the link here; https://www.ccare.org.au/get-involved/individual-volunteering

Real connections, made simple - Community Club (ACVVS) at C Care!

A shared cuppa. A game of cards. A quiet chat. Sometimes that's all it takes to turn strangers into friends.

Community Club matches volunteers with older community members based on shared interests and personality - then lets the friendship do the rest. Regular visits, real connection, less loneliness.

Every match looks different. Every one matters.
