Sunday 31 May is World No To***co Day - a day to highlight the benefits of reducing or quitting to***co and ni****ne.

This year, the theme "Unmask the Appeal," is a call to empower young people to see through the marketing and branding of harmful ni****ne products and make their own health decisions free from the influence of Big To***co. ๐Ÿšซ

Our Prevention team are working with schools to provide students the opportunity to learn about the benefits of not using ni****ne, and how to support their peers not to take it up, or to quit if they have started. ๐Ÿ“‹

Health professionals, school staff, students, parents and carers all have a role to play in Unmasking the Appeal - to learn more about what you can do and register for our V**E Support programs click the link https://ow.ly/FEQ750Z5qp0.

This National Reconciliation Week, we recognise that meaningful reconciliation takes ongoing action, shared understanding, and a commitment from all of us.

The 2026 theme, โ€œAll In,โ€ reminds us that creating a more inclusive and equitable future requires everyone to walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples - not just during , but every day.

At Cancer Council ACT, we continue our reconciliation journey through our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), strengthening the way we listen to, learn from, and support First Nations communities across cancer prevention, support, and care.

We are committed to helping build a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples experience culturally safe, accessible, and equitable cancer care outcomes.

Today, we reflect on the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We acknowledge the enduring impact of the Stolen Generations and the pain and injustice caused by these policies.

We recognise that we live and work on Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country and acknowledge the ongoing connection of First Nations peoples to land, water, culture, and community.

National Sorry Day is a reminder to listen, learn, and recommit ourselves to truth, healing, and meaningful action towards reconciliation.

Together, we can continue working towards a future grounded in respect, understanding, and equity. ๐Ÿ’›

Together it's all of us against cancer.

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is HERE - and every cuppa counts โ˜•

Last week, we hosted a special Biggest Morning Tea for clients of Cancer Council ACT's ENHANCE Wellbeing Program and Wig Service, with special guest, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia. Over stories, smiles and many cups of tea, it was a morning that captured the true spirit of Australiaโ€™s Biggest Morning Tea - community and kindness.

Now in its 33rd year, Australia's Biggest Morning Tea raises vital funds for a cancer-free future โ€” with almost 1 in 2 Australians diagnosed with cancer before 85, every cuppa makes a difference.

We're aiming to raise $200,000 for local prevention programs, support services and lifesaving research right here in the ACT โ€” but we need your help to get there.

There's still time to register, host a morning tea anytime in May or June, or donate today.
