A significant development for our medical outreach service in Timor-Leste 🚑

Earlier this year, we welcomed a new 4WD ambulance to support our medical clinic’s outreach programme. We are now pleased to share that the vehicle has been equipped with Starlink satellite internet, marking a major milestone in our ability to deliver healthcare in some of the country’s most remote communities.

Reliable connectivity can be extremely difficult to maintain in rural areas of Timor-Leste. This upgrade enables real-time telemedicine consultations and digital patient management, providing stable, high-speed internet access wherever the ambulance travels.

Many people in Timor-Leste live in isolated communities where limited infrastructure and access to healthcare present significant challenges. Each month, our dedicated clinic staff travel to 10 remote locations—some requiring journeys of up to six hours from Dili along unsealed roads—to provide essential primary healthcare services to more than 200 patients. 👩🏽‍⚕️👨🏽‍⚕️

This new capability strengthens our mission to bring quality healthcare closer to those who need it most, no matter how remote their location.

It was a privilege to walk alongside clergy, religious and lay faithful in prayer and devotion, proclaiming the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist and bringing this important tradition into the heart of our cities.

Thank you to all who participated and helped make these celebrations such a powerful expression of faith and community.

Not everyone our Order of Malta volunteers meet during outreach needs — or even wants — a coat.

Sometimes it’s a pair of warm, clean socks that is most appreciated. Sometimes it’s a hygiene kit. But more often than not, what people value most is a conversation, a smile and a kind word.

For those experiencing homelessness, feeling seen and knowing that someone cares can mean everything. Human connection and dignity are just as important as the practical support we provide. ❤️

Last night members across the country came together for a First Friday Vigil. These are held each month in , , and . The shared meal that follows provides an opportunity for fellowship and further strengthens the bonds of confraternity among members.

The spirituality of our members is at the heart of everything the does.

Our charitable works are inspired by members who are called to serve the sick and the poor. By recognising the presence of God in those they serve, members seek to glorify Him through their actions.

Gathering regularly for liturgical celebrations is an important part of members' spiritual lives.

Our Community Care van do so much more than simply driving the vans and distributing coats, socks and hygiene items. Time and time again, they go above and beyond — noticing needs, showing compassion, and finding small ways to make life a little easier for those doing it tough.

Recently, one of our volunteers realised that a number of the people we support weren’t alone — they had loyal four-legged companions by their side. Wanting to care for them too, the volunteer generously brought pet food to the next service, so we could offer something for the animals as well.

It’s a simple gesture, but one that speaks volumes about the kindness and thoughtfulness of our volunteers. Caring for people often means caring about what matters to them most.

Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for the many quiet acts of kindness that make such a difference. ❤️🐾
