What should you do if you meet someone experiencing homelessness in Woollahra?
Stefan from Missionbeat - one of the organisations we work with to help provide outreach, crisis support, accommodation and long-term housing - has some tips.

At the end of the day, it's important to lead with respect, care and compassion. We are committed to working with support agencies and the police to protect everyone’s health, wellbeing and safety.
Together we can foster a compassionate, supportive community where everyone feels seen and supported.

If you have more questions, there's information here - https://www.woollahra.nsw.gov.au/homeless

Woollahra Council’s Homelessness Policy commits to

❤Treating homeless people with dignity and respect;
❤Ensuring the safety of our community;
❤Protecting the rights of all members of the community; and
❤Providing information about homelessness support services.

Council will act when a person requests assistance, appears distressed or in need of help, is behaving in a way that threatens their safety or the safety of others, or if they are preventing us from regular service provision. 📞You can contact us via the Woollahra Council App if you need our help.

A friendly smile 🙂, or a cold drink on hot days 🥤 and a coffee or tea in winter ☕️ can go a long way to making someone’s day.

This morning we celebrated International Women’s Day at the Mission Australia Centre, taking a moment to acknowledge the remarkable women we have the privilege of working alongside each day.

We are also reminded that every day we have the honour of supporting vulnerable women in our community, women who demonstrate extraordinary strength and resilience in the face of challenges many never see. Their courage, determination, and hope are deeply inspiring.

Days like today are important. They give us an opportunity to celebrate progress, recognise the achievements of women, and reflect on how far we have come. At the same time, we know that meaningful change requires ongoing commitment. It happens through the work we continue to do every day, standing beside women, advocating for equality, and creating spaces where every woman feels supported, respected, and empowered.

Here’s to the strong women around us, and to the important work that continues ahead. 💜

✨ Help Turn a House into a Home ✨

Our clients who’ve experienced homelessness are finally getting the keys to a safe, stable place to call home. But moving in is just the beginning, many don’t have the everyday essentials.

We’re currently seeking donations of:
🪟 Curtains
🧹 Broom, mop, bucket, dustpan & brush set
🧼 Toilet brush, washing powder, dishwashing liquid, toilet paper
🧺 Washing basket, clothes airer
🧤 Vacuum cleaner, microwave oven, kitchen bin

These simple items make a huge difference in helping someone settle in with dignity and comfort.

If you’re able to donate new or gently used items, please get in touch or drop them off at 19 Denham Street, Surry Hills, 2010.

Together, we can help create a fresh start. 💜
