We had a short break in August due to the Sydney Marathon. It was good to be back in September despite the rain!

We had a small team this month of very dedicated Vets, nurses, admin and vet students. A HUGE thank you to you all and to all the client's for their patience on the day 💖

PITP Darlinghurst sees a large number of clients and we wouldn't be able to do so without our volunteers.

This month's clinic will be a little out of sync. Instead of the last Sunday, we will be hosting the clinic on the first week of November due to our venue availability.

Share this post or follow the page to stay updated. We'll send a reminder later in the month.

If you are experiencing homelessness with a pet (or know someone who is) and would like to come to our clinic, please organize a referral from a recognized support organization ahead of the clinic.

Pets In The Park provides accessible veterinary care to pets of those who are experiencing homelessness in our community.

We run a monthly pop-up in Darlinghurst where Vets and Vet Nurses, and many other volunteers from different walks of life, volunteer their time to provide vaccinations, basic consults, and parasite protection to the pets of some of Sydney's most vulnerable populations.

If you've heard of us or feel intrigued, consider this your sign to sign up! Your time makes a real difference in helping those experiencing homelessness to keep their pets.

Help make NSW public transport more accessible for people and their dogs

At Pets in the Park Darlinghurst, our team knows that getting a dog to veterinary appointments can be difficult for people who do not have access to a car.

A NSW Parliamentary e-petition is calling on the NSW Government to trial a clearly identified dog-friendly carriage on every NSW train and Metro service for two years.

Dogs would need to remain on a lead or in an approved carrier, with clear standards for behaviour, cleanliness and owner responsibility. All other carriages would remain dog-free.

This could provide an important transport option for people experiencing homelessness or financial hardship, as well as older Australians, people with disabilities and others who do not drive.

The petition needs 20,000 signatures from NSW residents by 4 November 2026 to be debated in NSW Parliament. If you live in NSW, please consider signing and sharing the petition.

This week marks Homelessness Week 2026, a time to raise awareness of homelessness in Australia and the collective action needed to create lasting change.

At Pets In The Park, we see every day how important the bond between people and their companion animals can be.

Through our volunteer veterinary clinics, we're proud to provide free veterinary care that helps keep pets healthy and supports the people who love them.

It's practical support, delivered with compassion, and it's only possible because of our incredible volunteers, referral partners, supporters and donors.

Thank you for helping us make a difference...because caring for pets is also caring for people.

We're incredibly honoured to have been selected as the 2026 charity partner for the iconic Commentators Club Grand Final Luncheon.

What began in 1997 as a gathering of just 30 friends with a shared passion for Australian Rules football has grown into one of Melbourne's most anticipated AFL Grand Final week events. More importantly, it has become a remarkable force for good.

For almost three decades, the Commentators Club has chosen to direct the proceeds from its annual luncheon to grassroots charities making a real difference in the community, with over $400,000 distributed so far.

This year, we're humbled that Pets In The Park has been chosen as the beneficiary.

Funds raised will directly support our Melbourne clinics in St Kilda, Melbourne and Frankston, helping us provide free veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness.

A heartfelt thank you to Neville "Nifty" James, Geoff "Joffa" Donohue, the Commentators Club committee, and every guest attending and sponsor supporting this year's luncheon. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on the people and pets we support.

The luncheon is already sold out which is testament to the passion of everyone involved but you can join the wait list here: https://www.commentators.com.au/book

We feel incredibly privileged to be part of this year's event and can't wait to be part of what promises to be a fantastic afternoon. You can learn more about this incredible annual event here: https://www.commentators.com.au/

Every month, our volunteer team at Pets In The Park Darlinghurst provides free veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness.

The support of the City of Sydney through their Summer Round grants program has helped us expand the care we can provide, ensuring more pets receive the treatment they need and can stay healthy alongside the people who love them.

To the City of Sydney, thank you for investing in our community and helping us protect the extraordinary bond between people and their pets. 💙🐾

We are so incredibly proud of Esther and Ethan who recently finished their 230km Larapinta Trail walk in a very impressive 11.5 days, while also achieving their $10,000 fundraising goal. Unbelievable outcome!!

Sincere thanks to everyone who donated to support their efforts...they have raised just over $10,500 which will be used to purchase essential medication for the pets of those living with homelessness who are supported by the Darlinghurst clinic.

Should you wish to, you can still donate at: https://www.givenow.com.au/petsinthepark-larapintatrail
