"I was lucky. It was early stage - we got it all. I've recovered better than I thought".

Cecelia’s quiet life with her husband and their two kids veered off script when she did the bowel cancer screening test. Her results came back positive, and her doctor told her they needed to investigate further.

📢“You do cervical screening, you do blood tests, you go to the doctor when you get a sniffle or whatever. So it's just another test to check everything's okay."

Thankfully Cecelia’s bowel cancer was found early enough that her treatment was successful and she is now cancer free.

Cecelia now encourages everyone between the ages of 45 and 74 to do the bowel cancer screening test every two years. The test is free, easy, and only takes a few minutes to do in the privacy of your own home.

Judith Lucy has recently shared her breast cancer diagnosis in a video on Instagram, and we thank her for using this moment to remind others about the importance of looking after their breast health.​

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it’s a timely reminder to stay on top of your breast screening. If you’re aged 50–74, you will be invited to have a free mammogram every two years.​
​
It’s also important to know what’s normal for you. If you notice any changes or something that doesn’t feel right, speak with your doctor.​
