This September, the Servant of the Servants of God, Pope Leo XIV, has asked us to pray for care and just use of water. As we reflect on this prayer request, let us bring to mind how we, as custodians of our environment care for our natural surroundings and water.

The Church has granted a plenary indulgence, with the required condition being to pray with the Pope, fostering spiritual unity among the faithful and aligning our prayer with the broader needs of the Body of Christ. We pray for the Holy Father's intentions because, through honouring the Pope, we honour Christ in his One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

A note on gaining this indulgence: because indulgences are distributed by the authority of the Church, praying for the Holy Father's intentions symbolises your unity with the Pope and the universal Church.

Indulgences are a gift from the Church to the faithful, and in exchange, the Church asks that we pray with her. You can fulfil this requirement by praying one Our Father and one Hail Mary. A Glory Be is encouraged, though not required

The Stations of the cross provide us a journey of love, sacrifice and redemption. For generations, these sacred images have guided our community in prayer and reflection.

St Alphonsus Ligouri said of this devotion:
"Who can deny that, of all devotions, devotion to the passion of Jesus Christ is the most useful, the most tender, the most agreeable to God, one that gives the greatest consolation to sinners, and at the same time most powerfully enkindles souls?"

At St Canice's, we are currently fundraising to restore our Stations of the Cross. With only 2 stations left to fund, there is a special opportunity to help restore sacred artwork before they are finished this September.

Once fully funded, we'll bring in a signwriter to add the finishing touches, and the full set will be restored for you to walk and pray with for decades to come.

Help us by donating to the restoration fund through the link in our bio.
