Scouts Australia

Scouts Australia Scouts Australia is Australia's largest youth development organisation & provides young Aussies aged 5 to 25 with opportunities to grow through adventure!

Scouts Australia is the largest youth development organisation in Australia with around 70,000 members, and provides young Aussies aged 5 to 25 with a wide range of opportunities to grow through adventure. Today’s Scouts can take part in an extraordinary variety of outdoor activities, from ‘traditional Scouting skills’ such as camping and bushcraft, through to more extreme challenges such as absei

ling, overnight hiking, rafting, canoeing, canyoning, snow activities, rock climbing, sailing… even flying! Scouts can get involved in performing arts, leadership development, community service, amateur radio operation, environmental projects, large-scale Australian events such as Cuborees, Jamborees and Ventures, international events, and service projects in developing countries. Scouts also learn valuable practical skills such as first aid and cooking… and fun skills, like how to build a ballista and fire wet sponges at their mates! Scouts Australia’s ongoing success is due to enthusiastic and committed adult volunteers from all walks of life who love adventure and take great pride in encouraging our young Aussies to reach their full potential. Want to share the adventure? For more information, visit the Scouts Australia website or freecall 1800 SCOUTS.

Joey Scouts from 1st Yarrunga Wangaratta Scout Group have been learning about the birds from their local area and turning their ideas into action.

After researching local bird species, the Joey Scouts designed and assembled bird boxes for Kookaburras, Parrots, Owlet-nightjars, Rosellas and Pardalotes, with a helping hand from Venturer Scouts and adult helpers.

It’s hands-on learning with a purpose: discovering the local wildlife, building practical skills and creating a safe place for birds to call home.

With the Aussie Bird Count coming up from 20–26 October, why not get involved and discover the amazing birdlife in your own backyard?

Earlier this month, Scouts from 1st Belmont Scout Group NSW came together to spread a little kindness and connection in recognition of World Loneliness Day.

Led by Lyla, the Scouts created beautiful friendship bracelets and wrote heartfelt cards for residents at a local aged care facility, hoping to brighten someone’s day and remind them that they are cared for.

With R U OK? Day coming up on 10 September, it’s a timely reminder to reach out to a friend, family member, fellow Scout, or someone in your community who might need a chat.

Sometimes, a simple conversation can make all the difference. 💛

What happens when Joey Scouts meet the iconic moves from Thriller? 🧟‍♂️🎶 Plenty of fun, laughter and a little bit of zombie magic!

Joey Scouts from 2nd Panania Scouts, Scouts NSW had a special night with two wonderful volunteers, Krystal and Dexter, learning the iconic dance routine from Thriller.

As part of their Special Interest Area Badge in Art and Literature, the Joey Scouts are exploring the exciting world of performing arts. Through dance, they’ve been building confidence, expressing themselves creatively, learning new skills and, most importantly, stepping outside their comfort zones.

A huge thank you to all adult supporters for sharing their time, energy and talents with our Joey Scouts and helping make this such a memorable experience.

In September 2025, a Patrol of five Venturer Scouts from Scouts Queensland took on the iconic Great Ocean Road coastal hike, supported by the Dick and Pip Smith Leadership Through Adventure Fund (LTAF).

Navigating unfamiliar terrain and changing conditions, the adventure built leadership, teamwork, resilience and confidence — while creating friendships and memories to last a lifetime.

A huge thank you to all the Leaders, adult supporters and the LTAF Committee who helped make this adventure possible.

Venturer Scouts from Cardiff Scout Group and Lake Mac District Venturer Unit had a wonderful evening stargazing at Glenrock the other night.

With telescopes out and the Moon shining brightly, it was a fantastic opportunity to explore the night sky, discover the Moon’s craters and enjoy great company along the way.

A wonderful night of adventure, friendship and discovery. We can’t wait to see where your next adventure takes you!
