Cubs from NSW had five huge days at Scout ACT's Cuboree over the October long weekend! There were too many activities for Scouts to count:

🏙️ Visiting Canberra
🛶 Canoeing
⛺ Camping
🫱 Doing the macarena
😊 Meeting new friends

Scouts Water Activity Centre (also known as SWASH) is the home of water adventures for Scouts across Sydney.

Tucked away in the lower Lane Cove River off Woolwich, SWASH is set up to give Scouts the best opportunity to learn how to paddle or sail – or simply feel more comfortable in water - in a safe but challenging environment.

SWASH hosts many events and activity days, particularly during summer, with something for every Scout and experience level.

All activities at SWASH are led and supervised by qualified volunteers and Leaders. SWASH couldn’t function without their hard work and commitment.

Surprise! Bogong moths are back.

For anyone who lives between Sydney and the Victorian border, they've been everywhere - and that's a good thing!

Bogong moths numbers have made a huge jump back up, restoring hope for scientists that the endangered species might just make it through.

And of course, our Scouts have been there to help! Scouts from Tumut, 1st Bungendore, 1st Cooma, 1st Figtree and 1st Kosciusko were loaned a specially-made Bug Lantern as part of the Bogong Watch Citizen Science Project, in partnership with Invertebrates Australia. These lanterns are being used to collect data on the ongoing Bogong Moth migration to their summer breeding grounds in the Snowy Mountains.

But that's not all, as Scout Groups have been learning all about bogong moths through games and activities, raising awareness about a small insect that is an important part of the larger ecosystem of south-east NSW.

The 1st Grose Vale Scout Group was the first to use the new $1.6 million Scout Hall in Kurrajong for weekly meetings. Funded by the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program, this facility supports leadership development for Hawkesbury youth. ⚜️

1st North Sydney is celebrating their centenary with the 4x100 Challenge!

The Group's Venturers are doing four adventures across 2026 with a 100 theme - 100m abseil, 100km hike, 100km cycle and 100km paddle.

Construction is progressing at the beloved Camp Kurrajong, a cornerstone of Scouting in the Riverina. This upgrade paves the way for exceptional outdoor adventure experiences for both Scouts and the wider community in Wagga and the Riverina, with a new multi-purpose hall, accommodation building, and accessible bathrooms to compliment the recently completed activity tower. Look out for opening dates coming soon!

This project is supported through the Australian Government’s Bushfire Community Recovery & Resilience Program.

Well, Scouts Queensland… looks like we need to have a little chat. 👀

The 2026 AFL Grand Final is officially Western Australia vs Queensland, with the Fremantle Dockers taking on the Brisbane Lions this Saturday! 🏆

We’re all about friendship and teamwork in Scouting, but for a few hours on Saturday, we might have to put that aside. 😄

WA is backing the purple. 💜⚓

Good luck, Queensland. You’ll need it. 😉

And when Freo gets the win, we promise not to mention it too often at Way Out West Moot: 23rd Australian Rover Scout Moot… probably. 😉
