For Maya*, the difference was having someone who listened, and acted when it mattered.

After residential treatment at Triple Care Farm, ongoing aftercare helped her advocate for safer housing, stay connected to study, and rebuild stability.

Her story shows why youth alcohol and other drug support must go beyond treatment — helping young people feel heard, supported, and able to move forward.

Every young Australian experiencing addiction deserves a fair chance.

But that chance is only possible with the right support at the right time: withdrawal care, rehabilitation, and aftercare that walks alongside a young person as they rebuild their lives.

Our Chair, Will Martin, shares why this matters so much: "Supporting a young person's recovery is an investment in their future, but also in Australia's future."

Sir David Martin Foundation funds youth-specific care for young people in crisis, delivered through our service partner Mission Australia. Your tax-deductible donation helps ensure compassionate, non-judgmental support is there when it matters most.

Please donate before 30 June and help make that investment real for a young Australian in crisis.

This National Reconciliation Week, we’re reflecting on what it means to be All In.

In the youth alcohol and other drug sector, reconciliation means listening to First Nations voices, supporting culturally safe pathways, and recognising the role of identity, culture and community in healing.

For Sir David Martin Foundation, this means continuing to support youth-specific alcohol and other drug programs that respect the whole young person, not just the challenges they are facing.

Because every young person deserves care that helps them feel heard, respected and connected. 🖤💛❤️

Young people aren't just small adults, and their addiction treatment shouldn't treat them like one. 🧠

Youth-specific alcohol and other drug programs focus on what actually improves outcomes: early intervention, structure, and ongoing support.

Ben was just 14 when he first smoked ma*****na.

By 16, his substance use had escalated. Underneath it all, he was dealing with stress and low self-worth.

His story is a reminder that substance use rarely exists on its own and that something deeper is often going on.

One day, Ben realised that something had to change.

Recovery rarely happens overnight. For many young people, it begins with someone believing their future can be different.

Through youth-specific treatment and care, that belief is met with practical support, steady guidance, and a community that doesn't give up.

Last Thursday, we had the privilege of welcoming some of our valued supporters to Triple Care Farm for our Autumn Lunch.

Over morning tea, our CEO Karen Elliff sat down with Helen Fuller from the TCF team for a candid conversation about the work happening on the Farm: the withdrawal journey at David Martin Place (the only youth detox unit of its kind in NSW), what a typical day in residential rehab looks like, the goals young people work towards during their stay, and why Aftercare is so critical when they transition home.

The most moving moment came when a current Aftercare participant shared their own story. It was a powerful reminder that behind every program is a young person.

After the conversation, we toured the houses, classrooms, gym and woodwork shed before returning for lunch and a final chat.

To everyone who joined us, and to every supporter who couldn't be there in person: thank you.

Alcohol and drug use can take hold early.

By the time a young person asks for help, they may be in crisis. They may be carrying shame, fear, debt, or broken trust.

Those moments of courage matter.

Your gift can help ensure support is there in the many critical moments of a young person’s recovery. Don’t let those moments pass. Donate before 30 June.

Dylan* wanted to feel better about himself, and be a better person for his family.

Through youth alcohol and other drug support at Triple Care Farm, he began to rebuild stability, reconnect with his identity, and find a sense of purpose.
