Master Builders Association ACT

Master Builders Association ACT MBA Training | RTO 88163 In the ACT Master Builders was formed in 1925.

Founded in 1925, Master Builders ACT has played a key role in the local building and construction industry representing builders, suppliers, subcontractors and professionals. The Master Builders Association is Australia’s major building and construction industry association—and Australia's oldest industry association. Founded in the early 1870s in Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle, the movement quic

kly grew in each state and territory before being federated nationally in 1890. Since that time, the Master Builders has grown to over 30,000 members, with offices in all major cities of Australia. It employs over 400 experienced staff with qualifications in a diverse range of disciplines including building, engineering, law, management, economics, marketing, accounting, industrial relations, safety, building surveying and training. The Master Builders Association of the ACT is part of the national Master Builders Federation. Each Master Builders operates independently to ensure that they service the needs of their local members. Master Builders ACT has members from five sectors, these are:

Residential Builders
Commercial Builders
Civil Contractors
Sub-Contractors/Trade-Contractors & Suppliers
Professional consultants
In addition to these the Master Builders has an associate membership for retirees and students that enjoy basic services provided by the association.

Meet Toby from Cord Civil.

Cord Civil has been a Master Builders ACT member for 25 years. We recently caught up with him at x project to find out why Cord Civil has continuously renewed their membership and what benefits they see in their membership.

With renewal time here, it's important to understand how Master Builders ACT can help your business.

Master Builders ACT has called for reform of the Secure Local Jobs Code, with concerns the current system is creating extra red tape for local businesses without delivering better outcomes for Canberra workers or contractors.

Appearing before the ACT Legislative Assembly Inquiry, Master Builders ACT CEO Anna Neelagama highlighted that many small and medium-sized businesses are facing complex compliance requirements simply to compete for government work, while interstate companies can still win projects without using local workers or subcontractors.

MBA ACT is calling for targeted reform, including:
🔸 Fairer and simpler compliance requirements for small businesses
🔹 Greater oversight of subcontracting arrangements
🔸 Procurement frameworks that support local workers and businesses
🔹 Breaking larger projects into smaller packages to create more opportunities for local contractors

With the ACT Government committing to a long-term pipeline of infrastructure work, MBA ACT says procurement settings should help keep skills, jobs and investment in Canberra.

Congratulations to the 2026 CCF Earth Awards Project Valued $2 million to $5 million winner: Complex Co.

Netball ACT Court Remediation Works – Stage 2 is a technically complex civil rehabilitation delivered across three major community sporting facilities in Deakin, Charnwood and Calwell.

Delivered by Complex Co on behalf of Netball ACT, the project transformed ageing netball courts into safe, high‑performance facilities supporting thousands of players and volunteers each year.

What began as a resurfacing program evolved into a comprehensive reconstruction, addressing drainage failures and subgrade instability uncovered during works.

Through innovative engineering solutions, sustainable material reuse and precise construction control, the project delivered durable, competition‑ready courts with minimal disruption to community sport.

Congratulations, Complex Co.

Congratulations to the 2026 CCF Earth Awards Project value more than $75million winner: Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure

The Raising London Circuit project is a transformative, city‑shaping infrastructure upgrade delivered in the heart of Canberra’s central business district.

The works redefined London Circuit by raising the roadway to meet Commonwealth Avenue, removing outdated interchange ramps, reconstructing pavements and utilities, and delivering a new signalised intersection designed to support the future Light Rail to Woden.

Through innovative digital engineering, carefully sequenced construction and close collaboration with government agencies and stakeholders, the project successfully kept the city moving throughout delivery.
