What a great week on the road!

Our AEC: Indigenous Electoral Participation Program Community Engagement Team visited Hope Vale, Cooktown and Wujal Wujal, delivering mock elections and sharing information about voting, elections, and future Temporary Election Work opportunities for the 2028 Federal Election.

A highlight was joining the First Nations Justice Office at the YARN UP event in Hope Vale and collaborating with the Electoral Commission of Queensland.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a chat and got involved. Remember, every vote matters, so make your vote count!

We're looking forward to visiting Pormpuraaw and Kowanyama next. See you soon!

🌿 Lockhart River Yarning & Learning!

Last week, our Balkanu Engagement Team had a great time at the Paytham Malkari Festival, yarning with mob from Lockhart River, Aurukun and Yarrabah about elections, voting and having a say. 🗳️

It was especially great connecting with the young ones and talking about enrolling from 16 and voting from 18.

Thanks for having us, Lockhart River! 💛 We look forward to coming back, continuing the yarns and strengthening our connections with community.

🗳️ Yarning, connecting and making every voice count!

Recently, our Balkanu Engagement Team travelled across the Western Cape, visiting Aurukun, Weipa, Napranum and Old Mapoon to yarn with mob about voting, elections and the importance of having your voice heard.

There were plenty of great conversations along the way, with community members taking the opportunity to enrol to vote and update their details. 🙌🏽

Voting is an important way for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to have a say in the decisions that affect our communities and our future.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped for a yarn, asked questions and got involved. 💛

📸 Here are a few moments from our travels across the Western Cape.

We look forward to visiting you all again soon!
