We use knowledge passed down from our mothers, grandmothers, aunties and elders to harvest bush produce on our country. Bush Medijina is not-for -profit and our sales support our business to grow stronger, for ourselves, our families and our communities. We started with an empty shed but a full heart and a big dream. ls beautiful when we are making our products. We are a young staff who have lots of bush knowledge but keep learning from the older women in our lives. We are sharing this knowledge by running workshops with other organisations. We have a small shop at the Bush Medijina Shed at Angurugu and run local market stalls. We are growing our business and we are thankful to everyone who buys our product, tells a friend about it, helps us find funding or simply gives us words of encouragement. They are freely given and happily accepted. We know what is important to us as young women, not only at work but in our lives and in our community. We value being good mothers, showing kindness to others, being loving and caring, being respectful, thoughtful and friendly. We want to live in a community where these values are shared by others and we also want people from other cultures to understand our culture better and know that we are good honest people. We are enjoying the journey and coming closer to our overall dream of a successful social enterprise that supports us, the indigenous Warnindilyakwa women of the Groote Eylandt Archipelago.
