As you can see, Sarina is VERY happy with her Hook & Heal Crochet unicorn, made in some of her favourite colours 🦄

If you didn't see our post a few days ago, Hook & Heal Crochet is a small business created by one of our own, Tayla, who was diagnosed with FND and has been in hospital ever since.

She started crocheting from her hospital bed as a way to keep busy, but it's grown into so much more. Through Hook & Heal, Tayla shares her gorgeous handmade creations while also raising awareness about her journey with FND.

Hey IDSS fam! 😊

Just a quick heads up that our Bundaberg and Childers Hubs will be closed tomorrow, Thursday 28 May, for the Show Holiday.

Our Sunshine Coast Hub will also be closed on Friday 29 May for the Show Holiday.

All supports will continue as usual and our teams will be working together to make sure everyone is supported across both days 🧡

When life changes this quickly, community really matters.

Many of you would know Tayla from our Bundaberg team. Over the last few months, she and her family have been navigating life after her FND diagnosis, alongside ongoing treatment and a whole lot of unknowns.

While in hospital, Tayla started crocheting just as something to focus on during the long days. That slowly turned into Hook & Heal 🧡

What started as a way to get through a hard season has become a small business filled with genuinely beautiful handmade pieces.

We wanted to share her story and rally around one of our own.

When we plan our group activities, the goal is never just to fill in the day.

We want people to have experiences they might not usually get the chance to do on their own, with the right support around them to actually enjoy it.

A regular Friday turned into a trip to 1770, cruising along the water in round boats, walking the sandbanks, and sharing lunch together at a local pub.

But it goes beyond the activity itself.

It's about making sure people have access to the kinds of experiences, connections, and memories that everyone deserves to have 🧡

Sometimes there's a misconception about support work.

People think support workers are there to do everything for someone, but that's not always the case.

Good support is about backing someone while they do their thing. Encouraging them to give things a go for themselves.

It's about doing things with people, not for them.
