Thanks for having our Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) team, Station Square Shopping Centre!

Adam and Lou had lots of great chats with Maryborough community members at their pop-up stall last week.

It was yet another chance to get the word out about IEA, the Australian Government’s specialist disability employment program.

IMPACT Community Services delivers IEA alongside CoAct in not only Maryborough, but also Hervey Bay, Agnes Water, Gladstone and Biloela.

IMPACT Community Services' New iMAGE Laundry is more than a business. As a social enterprise, it exists to create employment opportunities, build confidence and support our community 💙

See this in action by reading Kara’s story 👇

Kara knows the feeling of searching for jobs and getting nowhere. After 15 months on the hunt for her first ever job, she was starting to lose hope.

Discovering New iMAGE Laundry, IMPACT Community Services' social enterprise, proved to be the turning point Kara needed.

Nearly four months on from kickstarting her career as a laundry worker, Kara has made leaps and bounds with the support of people like Team Leader Marika, growing from a nervous newcomer into a confident team member.

“A few months ago, I never knew how to do all this stuff,” Kara said.

🌊📚 Bundaberg kids are helping write their own safety story 📚🐢

More than 80 Walkervale State School students, alongside local elders from the Taribelang Aboriginal Corporation, have helped shape a brand-new protective behaviours book, Keeping Kids Safe in Bundaberg.

From turtles and beaches to their very own school, local children shared the places that matter most to them, ensuring this important resource truly reflects our community. 💛

Set to launch this October, the book will help empower young people with the knowledge and confidence to stay safe, all told through a story they helped create.

Parents are exploring important topics such as mental health and bullying through the Go Mums and Dads program, known as Go MAD.

Facilitated by Kristy, a nurse from the Child Health team at the Margaret Rose Centre, Go MAD is a six-week program focused on building parents’ confidence and strengthening their connection with their children.

Last week, the focus was on domestic and family violence (DFV). Participants shared personal stories and discussed how DFV is not limited to physical abuse. It can also be emotional, financial and psychological.

A big thank you to Kristy for facilitating these sessions, and to IMPACT Community Services' Positive Start Parenting and Pathways to Early Learning and Development clients who took part.

"STRONGER TOGETHER" is a weekly column where IMPACT Community Services Managing Director, Tanya O'Shea, explores key issues. This week Tanya discusses how the rapid rise of AI is fuelling fears of becoming obsolete, while highlighting the need to view change as an opportunity for growth rather than a threat.

"For many people, value has traditionally been grounded in experience and expertise. AI challenges this foundation."

Thank you to our IMPACT Community Services and New iMAGE Laundry teams for getting involved and showing your commitment to ending DFV.

A special shout out to Impact Community Academy students for creating a powerful artwork display that highlights the importance of speaking up against violence. Check it out in photo 4. 📸

❤️ State of Origin dress up! 🩵

IMPACT Community Services and New iMAGE Laundry staff showed their support for Queensland and New South Wales today ahead of tonight's Men's State of Origin.

This is just one of the many initiatives that our Social Connect team organise to bring our people together. They do a fantastic job!

Thanks to everyone who got involved. Fingers crossed the quality of the game matches the quality of the outfits! 🤞

Congratulations to Taye for completing her Business Administration Traineeship! 👏

After 22 weeks of hard work, she's more than earned her Certificate I in Workplace Skills.

At times, Taye wasn't sure if she could do it, but we always believed in her.

Taye fit into our WORKFit team seamlessly, helping them to boost the work-readiness of jobseekers across Bundaberg while strengthening her own skills.

Today, on Taye's last day as part of the IMPACT Community Services family, Taye received her certificate alongside a gift from the team.

Thanks for your work and all the best for the future, Taye!
