Bundaberg members, including Woodgate residents, made their own way to attend the Sunshine Coast Ex Service and Serving Women’s Association annual luncheon held at Maroochydore on 4th June.

The ladies reported that once again it was a great get together with friends from other associations in attendance. The theme this year was ‘Elegant’.

It was time to tap into the inner artist with a creative art class, where our members were treated to another exciting activity. Thankfully, award-winning contemporary artist Jassy Watson was there to guide them in creating their own ‘masterpiece’.

When the colours were revealed on the palette, everyone’s eyes widened as the mystery subject was slowly revealed. The morning was a burst of colour and fun as everyone painted their own treasure to take home.

This week, members and guests had a memorable day out on a ‘Mystery’ bus tour with Jo Jo’s Tours around the district out from Bundaberg.

Jo, the owner and driver, shared very interesting stories about all the places the group visited and drove through. Everyone enjoyed the scenic tour and also savoured the morning tea at the old Courthouse in Gin Gin, which has a lovely art gallery and café run by volunteers.

On their way to Fig Tree Camp, Mt Perry, the bus load of travellers visited the Boolboonda tunnel, where the owner told them all about the project. They also interacted with some farm animals and watched a gold panning demonstration.

Everyone then enjoyed a beautiful lunch at the old Mt Perry hospital, at which there was another amazing art gallery and facility run by volunteers. On the way back to Bundaberg, Jo took the bus through the historic New Moonta.

It was a most enjoyable day out with friends.
