Don't miss the things that matter!

Our free ACE Your Hearing Program starts 11th June. Register today!

“The ACE Your Hearing program was so effective, it was a ‘life-saver’ for me.” – Trevor, ACE Your Hearing participant

“The ACE Your Hearing program has enabled me to have a more positive outlook on getting the best use of my aids and helped me to feel more comfortable and confident as I face the challenges of my hearing loss. It gave me what is needed to live a better life.” – Christine, ACE Your Hearing participant

Hearing aids can help, but they may not solve every communication challenge.

You may still find it hard to follow conversations in cafés, family gatherings, meetings, group settings or noisy places. You may feel tired from listening, frustrated when you miss things, or less confident joining in.

You are not alone.

BHA’s ACE Your Hearing program, developed by UQ, helps adults with hearing loss learn practical communication strategies for everyday life. It is designed to help you feel more confident, better prepared and more connected.

Session 1: Thursday 11 June, 10am to 12pm
Session 2: Thursday 18 June, 10am to 12pm
Location: Banyo Library
Cost: Free
Registration: Limited seats. Register your interest below and we will be in touch.

ACE Your Hearing program from BHA and UQ, helps adults with hearing loss build confidence, communication strategies and listening skills.

Research conducted by YouGov across Australia, the UK, and the US indicates that over a third of people with hearing loss report being perceived as rude or disengaged. The data also shows that up to 40% say they are seen as less intelligent or less capable, and more than a third report that others believe they should be able to “try harder” to hear.

The data was shared by GN at the World Audiology Congress.

GN also partnered with Ampetronic for an AuraCast live music event in Seoul featuring a K-pop group with hearing loss to highlight audio accessibility.

Tracey Bergmans announced as Pam O'Gorman Bursary Recipient for 2026!

Congratulations to Tracey Bergmans who was selected as the 2026 recipient of the Pam O'Gorman Bursary.

It was a tough decision for the selection committee this year with strong applications all around.

Tracey’s application shared a genuinely powerful story of persistence and purpose, and it’s well worth a read if you need a reminder that hearing loss should never limit what’s possible. Click the link below.

Meet Tracey Bergmans, the 2026 Pam O’Gorman Bursary recipient, whose journey shows hearing loss should never limit ambition or capability.

It's time for a Friday Funny. While hearing loss can be frustrating, isolating and challenging, sometimes a little humour can help us feel connected. The cartoon gave us a smile, so we thought we’d pass it on.

Do you have a hearing loss-related joke, cartoon or light-hearted moment to share? Send it through to us and we may share it.

Our audiologist, Ellen, spent time this week with the Toowong Probus group talking about hearing loss and answering lots of questions.

With over 80 attendees it was a great morning of information and shared insight (someone even said it was the best presentation they had seen at Probus!).

If you have a community group and would like to invite Ellen to speak about hearing loss and answer some questions, drop us a line today.

But remember, you don't have to wait to ask questions... use our Ask the Aud service anytime. Access it here: https://bhabrisbane.org.au/services/advocacy-support-connection/hearing-help-desk/

"I should just change my voicemail message to: 'Please hang up and text me'."

Who hasn't thought that... or done it!

While hearing loss can be frustrating, isolating and challenging, sometimes a little humour can help us feel connected. And this week's funny is probably more a piece of advice than a joke as such. In any case we hope it helps or provides a little chuckle.

Do you have a hearing loss-related joke or light-hearted moment to share? Why not share it with us and people living with hearing loss.

“Learning, understanding and sharing has been so helpful.”

Christine took part in the BHA ACE Your Hearing program and found it helped her better understand her hearing loss, manage social situations and feel more confident.

She said the program gave her simple everyday communication tips, helped her understand listening fatigue, and showed her how to prepare better for conversations.

Christine also valued being able to attend with a support person, helping her family better understand the challenges of living with hearing loss.

If you or someone close to you is finding hearing loss difficult, BHA’s free ACE Your Hearing program may help.
