Qld Gems players facilitated netball training drills at the Challenge Games in Townsville.

Great work by some representatives of the Qld Gems (netball players who have an intellectual impairment) who utilised their Ambassador media training and engaged in a radio interview with 99.9 Live FM. Thank you ladies for allowing Holly to tag along.

Our Sport Coordinator Holly Mead has been at the Challenge Games in Townsville to provide information to students, parents and teachers about the eligibility process for classifications and pathways for people with an intellectual impairment to be able to participate in sport at their skill level. Who knows….just like Lindsey Hendy, there may be a student here who, with skill development opportunities and training, will compete at the next Commonwealth Games or the Paralympics in Brisbane 2032.

Congratulations Lindsey. 5.48m is a long distance to jump that most of us would never even come close to achieving - it’s similar to jumping the height of a giraffe (stretched out on the ground) or a traditional school bus or 2 adults and a child laying head to foot on the ground.

Lindsey Hendy made his Australian debut in the Long Jump T20, recording a best jump of 5.48m in the wet conditions at Scotstoun Stadium.

Valuable experience gained, with plenty more to come 💪
