Those that showed up in beach gear to Belair National Park parkrun were very cold and disappointed this morning to find that run director Mel’s promise of tropical sunshine and margaritas had, once again, gone unfulfilled. Thanks Mel. She has already promised that next time she will bus us all to the highest point in the national park so that we get to run 5kms entirely downhill … but I wouldn’t count on it.

Special mention also to the teardrop set-er-up-er-ers (Steve and DT) who set up the grass section extra narrow today so that we didn’t have to run through the mud. Thanks guys! Unfortunately, although this was very considerate it meant everybody’s run was 10m short of the 5k distance so all PBs will be revoked. To make up for it we will be setting up an extra-large version of the teardrop next week to ensure you all get proper value out of our course.

165 freezing cold people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 20 were first timers and 13 recorded new (but soon to be revoked) personal bests. Congratulations to Roger Anderson on completing his 25th parkrun today, and Sarah Lenigas and Rachael Litchfield for completing their 50th!

A big thank you of course to our volunteers: Steve, Kate, David’s B, C, H & T, Seth, Cathy, Rhys, Shirley, Peter’s H & N, Kishan, Kate, Catherine, Liz, Jake, Elissa, Brendon, Elaine, Xiaona, Aysegul, Nar and Kim. Mel was also present.

Oh yeah … there was also a rainbow. Good job rainbow.

Belair National Park parkrun started on 9th December 2023. Since then 6,361 participants have completed 26,868 parkruns covering a total distance of 134,340 km, including 5,025 new Personal Bests. A total of 355 individuals have volunteered 3,054 times.

Hello BNP Legends! 👋💚

Don’t sleep in! Don’t be late!… make sure you get along to BNP parkrun event #128…

Our awesome team of vollie wizards are casting spells and ready to get us going for another great parkrun! There is always room for more on the team, so if you’ve been thinking about volunteering and keen to come and give it a go, now is always a great time! Just come and have a chat and we can find a role for you! Even helping out once every now and then helps keep our event going!

🌤 Saturday Morning Outlook

After a soggy one last week and more of the same most of this week, we have a chance of more rain but less chance than earlier in the week - 50% chance of less than 1mm.. temp a wintery 10°C by start time on the way to a partly cloudy top of 15°C!! As always, our course checkers will keep an eye on any hazards - we are already aware of a fallen branch out there, so if you are keen to get there early and lend some muscle, that would be great! Vollie credits up for grabs!!! We will let you know how it looks when we gather for the run brief..

🔢 Fun Facts about #128

* 128 is the seventh power of 2 (2⁷)
* In electronic dance music (EDM), 128 BPM is widely considered the "golden tempo" for a perfect dance track

🌍 Special Day – 20 June is World Refugee Day! It is also World Juggling Day.. so bring your juggling balls to parkrun!!

Did someone order a drenching? We had a very soggy day at Belair national park parkrun today! It was great to see so many runners, walkers and volunteers brave the persistent rain and some even embracing the puddle jumping during their run!

It was lovely to see the local wildlife making the most of the lush green grass and wet conditions!

Milestone congratulations: Congratulations to Ben Preston for completing his 100th parkrun today! Steve Grace has also completed his 50th volunteer milestone (49 at Belair!) and Jake Hodgman completed his 10th (unofficial but we will celebrate you regardless!). Well done to all! If you have any photos please reach out so we can update the report!

Visitors: With the rainy run brief we didn’t catch any visitors speaking up today. If you were visiting and we missed you, let us know and we will update the run report!

Participation: We had 79 parkrunners who came out to run, jog and walk the course, 10 were first timers to BNP including 5 that completed their first ever parkrun! We had 8 new Personal Bests! Representatives of 10 different clubs took part. We love that you all chose Belair National Park parkrun for your run or walk today! We also had a big group of loyal Blokes at the Back today led by Jake Hodgman!

Vollie Team: Special thanks to the amazing team of 31 vollies that helped us bring you BNP parkrun today, led by our legendary Kate R. Has anyone lost this umbrella? Left at the finish area this morning? It is currently drying off in the Goat Shed cafe.
