Preparations for the 2027 Pumpkin Run are underway!

The run might still be months away, but the work starts long before the pumpkins are ready to harvest. 🌱

A few weeks ago, the Tilbuster Station team were out on the tractor preparing the planting rows. This week, staff and young people from Kempsey, Port Macquarie, Inverell and Armidale came together to sow the first seeds!

From preparing the soil to planting and caring for the crop, each stage brings us closer to the 2027 Pumpkin Run.

Stay tuned as we follow the pumpkins from paddock to harvest! 🎃

You’re welcome to attend any of these community visits. There’s no need to book an appointment, just come along on the day.

Please bring any form of ID you have, such as a Medicare card, Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card. Our team will be there to help you with the process.

Probus clubs across Australia are celebrating 50 years in 2026, bringing people together through friendship, shared interests and new experiences.

The Inverell East Probus Club has been bringing people together locally for more than 20 years and recently welcomed Pathfinders’ Liesel Taber to speak about the organisation’s work and the support available to individuals and families.

Liesel, Coordinator of SHS Inverell/Glen Innes and Inverell Family and Youth Support Services, shared an overview of Pathfinders’ programs and services. We really appreciated the strong interest from members in our work across local communities and throughout NSW. There were plenty of great questions and discussion, making it an enjoyable and engaging meeting.

Thank you to the Inverell East Probus Club for the invitation and warm welcome. It was a pleasure to attend, meet members and share more about what we do.

That's a wrap for the IFYSS school holiday program for 2026! 🎉

Our Inverell Family Youth Support Service team had 242 drop-ins across the Tingha and Ashford holiday hubs and headlice workshops! From cooking, craft and sensory play to helping families get ready for the return to school, it has been wonderful seeing children, young people and families come together, get involved and enjoy the school holidays!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported this new initiative, including BEST Community Shed, BEST Community Services, Tingha Public School, Ashford Central School and Kwiambal Local Aboriginal Land Council. Programs like this can't happen without support like yours.

An extra big shout-out to the community for coming along and welcoming the IFYSS team. We've had so much fun delivering this program and have loved seeing everyone coming together.

We hope to continue the program in 2027!

🏀 What a day for basketball, connection and mental health awareness in Inverell!

Yesterday, 50 local kids hit the court for our free Basketball Community Event, enjoying a day of basketball, activities, connection and plenty of fun!

Held as part of Mental Health Month, the day was all about bringing young people, families and the community together, getting active and embracing this year’s theme, Together We Thrive. 💙

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible, including Basketball NSW and Inverell Basketball Association for bringing the basketball action to life; Armajun Aboriginal Health Service for joining us with craft activities and information for families; Bindaree Food Group for their generous BBQ donation; and BEST Community Connections for coming along and supporting the day.

Most importantly, thank you to the 50 young people who registered and joined us on the court, and to all the families and community members who came along and got involved. 🏀🙌

Drop into our FREE Family & Youth Hub from 11am–2pm at the Kwiambal Local Lands Council Building for cooking, crafts, sensory activities and school holiday fun! 😊

All ages welcome—come along and join our Inverell Family Youth Support Service team!

🎨 School Holiday Fun in Ashford!

Our Inverell Family Youth Support Service team is heading back to Ashford these school holidays with two free Family & Youth Drop-In Hub days.

Join us on Thursday 1 October and Thursday 8 October, from 11am to 2pm, at the Kwiambal Local Lands Council Building.

There’ll be plenty happening across the day, including cooking activities, sensory make-and-play, craft activities and lots of time to just drop in, join the fun and spend time with others.

All ages are welcome, and everything is free.

IFYSS staff will provide supervision while young people are attending the Hub. Parents and carers are responsible for transport to and from the venue.

A great way to break up the school holidays and keep the kids busy! 😊

Facilitated by Pathfinders Inverell Family Youth Support Service and funded by the BEST Community Shed, with support from BEST Community Services.

🦺 National Safe Work Month

This October, workplaces across Australia are coming together for National Safe Work Month, an opportunity to pause, reflect and take practical steps to help prevent work-related injuries, illness and fatalities.

The 2026 theme is Safe work is for life, recognising that work health and safety is about more than preventing harm in the moment. It’s about protecting people’s lives, health and futures.

This week’s focus, For life: why WHS matters, encourages us to think about what safe and healthy work means and the role we all play in creating safer workplaces.

🌏 World Mental Health Day is also on 10 October, providing an opportunity to recognise that safe work protects both physical and psychological health.
