Ipswich First Nations Careers Event

Our Pathfinders National Aboriginal Birth Certificate Program (PNABC) team recently attended the Ipswich First Nations Careers Event on Tuesday 1 September, alongside local employers and community services.

The free event gave First Nations job seekers the chance to meet employers face-to-face, learn about current job opportunities, explore self-employment pathways and connect with services that can support their next steps.

For many people, having a birth certificate is an important first step towards employment and greater independence. It can be needed to apply for a Tax File Number, open a bank account, obtain other forms of identification, apply for a driver licence and complete employment checks and paperwork.

Our PNABC team was there, to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to access their birth certificate and help remove a barrier that can stand in the way of employment and other opportunities.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to have a yarn with our team!

R U OK? Community Breakfast - Inverell 💛

Join Pathfinders for a free community breakfast in Sinclair Park.

Tuesday 8 September | 9:30am – 11:30am
📍 Sinclair Park, Inverell
Opposite the Pathfinders office

Come along and enjoy bacon and egg rolls, tea and coffee, wellbeing activities and a relaxed morning with the community.

R U OK? Day is a reminder that a simple conversation can make a difference. You don’t need to be an expert - sometimes just asking “Are you OK?” and taking the time to listen is a great place to start.

We are also very grateful to some wonderful local businesses who have generously supported the event. A big thank you to IGA Inverell, BIG W, Fair Dinkum Fresh & Co and Bakers Loaf for their donations and for supporting the Inverell community.

Everyone is welcome.

This week is Foster and Kinship Care Week 💛

From 30 August to 5 September, we’re celebrating the incredible foster carers and kinship carers who open their homes and lives to children and young people.

At Pathfinders, we see the care, patience and commitment our carers bring every day, often in ways that may never be seen or recognised publicly. This week is a chance to say a very genuine thank you.

To mark Foster and Kinship Care Week, our Foster Care team has created 100 special gift packs for Pathfinders carers, including a new Sanctuary Self-Care Guide, a practical self-care plan, wellbeing prompts and a specially designed Pathfinders tea towel.

The packs are a small gesture of appreciation, but also a reminder that carers’ wellbeing matters too. As we continue to embed the Sanctuary Model across Pathfinders, we want to support carers not only in the care they provide to others, but in looking after themselves as well.

A big thank you to our Foster Care team for the thought and care that has gone into putting the packs together.

Most importantly, to all of our Pathfinders carers, thank you for the difference you make in the lives of children and young people, this week and every week. 💛

Taree Community Disability Expo 🙌

Pathfinders’ Support Your Path team had a great day at the Taree Community Disability Expo in Taree today.

The event brought together people living with disability, families, carers, support workers and local service providers, creating a relaxed and welcoming space to connect, ask questions and learn more about the supports available across the Mid North Coast.

Our team enjoyed chatting with community members, sharing information about Support Your Path and connecting with other local providers throughout the day.

And of course, the free barista-made coffee for attendees was a very welcome bonus! ☕😊

A big thank you to My Plan Support, the event sponsors and everyone involved in bringing the expo together and to everyone who stopped by to say hello to our team.
