The Armidale Pottery Club, established in the early 1970s, brings together those with a passion for working with clay. Our 40 members have a range of diverse interests, from wheel-thrown functional ware, to hand built functional and sculptural works, and mould-making for slip casting and press moulding. Each year we run hand building workshops and wheel throwing lessons, which are available to the
wider community. We also hold an annual exhibition and sale on the first and second weekend of December (our main fund-raiser). Our members have a broad range of skills. Some are beginners and others have many yearsโ experience, which they generously share with less-experienced members. Our workshop environment is friendly and supportive. Each member has 24/7 access to the club and its resources. The workshop is well-equipped with 8 pottery wheels, 2 kilns, clay, pre-mixed glazes, all the materials needed to make your own glazes, and a range of tools and equipment available to all. Membership is $100 per year. Our club meetings are at noon on the first Friday of the month in the workshop which is located behind the Swimming Pool (opposite the TAFE in Beardy Street). This historic building, once the bathhouse for the swimming pool, is rich in character and a great venue for bringing creative people together.
