It was an honour to welcome The Hon Connie Bonaros MLC, SA Best, as a speaker at our STRA Summit 2026 in Adelaide.
In her session, “𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘉𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴: 𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘚𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘳, 𝘍𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘳 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘌𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺,” Connie shared her passion and advocacy for creating a safer and more equitable environment for women and girls, a message that strongly resonated with our industry.
As Connie steps away from her role in the South Australian Legislative Council following the recent state election, we would like to sincerely thank her for the unwavering support she has provided to STAAA and our members over the past 18 months.
Connie’s commitment to fairness, safety and representation has made a meaningful impact on our industry.

The inaugural STRA Leadership Awards hosted by the Short Term Accommodation Association Australia (STAAA) are opening soon.

Created to recognise real leadership, innovation and contribution across the short-term rental accommodation (STRA) industry in Australia, these awards will celebrate the owners, operators, suppliers, advocates and businesses helping shape the future of our industry.

There will be 5 award categories, including one special interactive category where our MCs will share the finalists’ stories across the two main conference days on 10 & 11 March 2027 in Adelaide, with attendees voting live for the winner.

All other categories will be independently assessed by a judging panel because these awards are designed to recognise genuine excellence, not popularity or paid voting campaigns.

We have seen other awards programs where finalists run paid ads to collect votes. That’s not what the STRA Leadership Awards are about.

The STRA Summit 2027 is hosted by the Short Term Accommodation Association Australia (STAAA), the peak industry body association for short-term rental accommodation (STRA) owners, operators and property managers across Australia.

With a comprehensive understanding of STRA regulations and strong, on the ground representation across every Australian state, the Short Term Accommodation Association Australia (STAAA) continues to lead meaningful advocacy and reform for our growing industry, not only across Australia but globally.

The STRA Summit 2027 will open with a pre-conference wine tasting and networking evening on Tuesday 9 March 2027, followed by two full days of knowledge sharing, collaboration and connection among Australia’s leading short-term rental accommodation (STRA) owners, operators, suppliers and Airbnb hosts and a Conference Awards Dinner on Thursday 11 March 2027.

We were pleased to have Susan McDaid from the Western Australia Consumer Protection Division at the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulations and Safety join us for STRA Summit 2026 👏

In her session, “𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘞𝘈’𝘴 𝘚𝘛𝘙𝘈 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬: 𝘈 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭 𝘚𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘥,” Susan shared valuable insights into the development and implementation of Western Australia’s STRA Register, highlighting how data, reporting, and user feedback are shaping a more effective and customer-focused system.

Although Susan presented via Zoom, her expertise and practical knowledge provided attendees with a clear understanding of how a statewide framework can support both industry and community outcomes.

A special thank you to Susan for also taking the time to run a live, on the spot Q&A, engaging directly with questions from our Western Australian attendees.
