We are so excited to kick off our 2026 City to Bay Fundraising Campaign! Watch this short video from our Chair, Gabriel, to hear three ways you can get involved and help out!

Last year we had a fantastic time with our “Superhero Fun-d Run”, raising almost $6000 to kick start our charitable activities. Since then, we have put that money to work with community events and welfare support, along with strengthening our organisational systems to give us a strong foundation to grow into the future.

This year we are back again and aiming to go even bigger and better with a lofty fundraising goal of $10,000!

Ways to get involved:
1. Sign up to run your own race at the City To Bay and fundraise as part of our team
- Whether you’re chasing a PB or just want to enjoy the day out, you can fundraise for us by signing up when you get your ticket
- Share with your friends and family so they can support you and BTS with donations
- Find us at our stall in the finish line race village to celebrate your achievements

2. Sign up, fundraise as part of the team, and join us on the day to walk as a group
- If you’d rather some company, we will have the whole BTS committee and supporters completing the 12k walk, in costume!
- Join us for part or the whole way, and dress up or wear whatever makes you comfortable – last year was a heap of fun

3. Donate!
- If you’re not able to make it on the day, you can still make a big difference by donating to any of our team members campaigns.

We are extending a very special thank you to Mike Jaberi for a very special donation.

Mike is the 2026 recipient of the Tom Sutherland Engagement Prize, awarded annually to a first-year student of the Flinders University Bachelor of Paramedicine, who best displays and applies the passion, mateship, excellence and commitment that Tom was known for.

Along with the title, the prize comes with $500 for the recipient, which Mike has very generously decided to donate to Beyond The Sirens!

Mike says, ‘I was genuinely honoured to receive this important prize. Fortunately, I am now in a position where I can use it to support my peers, and hopefully future colleagues. I couldn’t think of a better organisation to ensure this money is appropriately spent, helping very deserving ambos in SA’.

Thank you very much Mike for such a generous donation - we think you are a very deserving recipient of the Tom Sutherland Engagement Prize!

A Day in the Park with Beyond The Sirens

Thank you to everyone who came along to our community day at the end of March!

This event was a chance for ambos to come together with peers and family to share some food and fun outside of the clinical space, and take a moment to check in with each other. The ambulance community is often described as one big family, and there are unique bonds formed through the experience of this job - one that is not like any other.

At BTS we are big believers in the strength of our ambo community, and the impact we can all have when we come together and support each other. Whether you’re checking in on a colleague, or the one who needs a chance to talk, we all benefit from the time we invest in each other.

Keep an eye out for future events like this aiming to bring our ambos together and build those strong community bonds. With winter setting in, the next one will likely be something cozy and warm!

We were lucky to be joined by the team from Walk Talk Share Inspire, who have been supporting the ambo community for years, and literally ‘walk the walk’.

Thank you also to The Butchers Platter for the generous donation of delicious meats, expertly cooked by BTS committee member Jarred and worlds number 1 helper Mila, along with Mel from Silver Photography, Adelaide who came along and snapped some awesome shots. If you haven’t checked them out, we can certainly recommend!

Last week we took the opportunity to check in with Flinders University paramedic students from regional SA as they travelled to Adelaide for intensive classes. This diverse group of students have a range of backgrounds including some already staffing regional ambulances as volunteers. Being regional can add an extra layer of isolation so we were very glad to catch up, offer some soft drinks and check in with them!
