Hey Kids in Salisbury we want to hear from you!!!!!

Your Voice is Your superpower!

We want to make sure the world is a place where you feel heard, happy, and supported. To do that, we need to hear from you!

If you are between the ages 3-14yrs we want to know: What do you think adults need to hear?

Whether it’s how we look after our mental health, how we treat one another, or big ideas for a better future—whatever matters to you, matters to us. We’re here to listen.

Up to 15 kids will be the chosen to be ‘The voice of childhood’ and represent children by speaking for up to 10 minutes at the 2026 Salisbury Childhood Summit, which will be held on Friday October 30th at Ingle Farm Salvation Army.

The young people selected to be present will receive:

Opportunity to deliver a presentation (up to 10min) at the 2026 Salisbury Childhood Summit to an audience of interested grown-ups who work with children and community leaders.

Video recording of your presentation will be published after the Summit

Speaker rewards and financial honorarium.

Things to consider:

If selected, you will need to be available on Friday 30th October to present.

There will be 3 mentoring sessions which we recommend coming along to so that we can support you in developing your presentation.

Friends and family are welcome to come along and watch, we hope you can have some keen supporters around you as you participate in this exciting project.

If your parents have any questions or you want an application form– please call or email Sara or Jess at 8397 9333 or [email protected]

In prepartion for the coming winter school hoildays here are some ideas to keep your little ones entertained indoors this break:

Burn Energy & Get Moving
Pillow Walk & Obstacle Course: Arrange couch cushions across the floor for a safe balancing act, or set up a blanket-draped chair as a crawl-through tunnel.Balloon Volleyball: Blow up a couple of balloons and challenge the kids to keep them off the ground without using their hands.Freeze Dance: Play their favorite music and call out "Freeze!" to get them testing their balance and coordination.

Creative & Hands-On
Homemade Playdough: Mix everyday ingredients to make soft, textured dough for sensory play.Stop-Motion Animation: Use a free smartphone app to let them create short movies with Lego bricks or action figures.Sticker Storybooks: Provide blank paper and stickers, encouraging them to create their own illustrated stories.

Quiet & Independent play
Follow-Along Drawing: Put on step-by-step drawing tutorials from channels like Art for Kids Hub to keep older kids focused.Indoor Treasure Hunt: Write or print out clues and hide them around the house, giving you a few minutes of quiet time while they search.Board Games & Puzzles: Pull out classics like Scrabble, Monopoly, or Uno for a family game tournament.Kitchen FunIndoor Picnic: Pack a "charcuterie" snack plate of cheese, cut fruit, and crackers, and enjoy a picnic on a rug in the living room.Decorating: Let kids decorate cupcakes, cookies, or even their own pizzas, keeping their hands and minds busy
