🚲 Another way we're helping keep an eye on the CBD.

In addition to our security trailers positioned at key hotspot locations throughout the CBD, WCID Public Safety Officers are also patrolling the area on bicycles. This allows them to cover more ground, remain visible, and respond quickly to situations as they arise.

Their role is to be the eyes and ears of the CBD, working alongside SAPS, Law Enforcement, and Capital Security to help keep our streets safe and welcoming for everyone.

🐦💚 Meet one of the Garden of Remembrance's most beloved residents!

This friendly Cockatiel has made the Garden of Remembrance his home and has become quite a local celebrity among our maintenance team and regular visitors. He can often be spotted greeting people, exploring the garden, and enjoying life in his beautiful surroundings.

With winter settling in, we recently installed a wooden birdhouse to give him a little extra shelter and comfort during the colder months.
We're pretty sure he approves. 😊

🌿 Keeping the Garden of Remembrance beautiful takes ongoing care. 🌿

Our WCID maintenance team has been hard at work clearing weeds from the flower beds and around the floodlight cages to ensure the beautiful fountain remains illuminated and looking its best.

It's a never-ending job, but one the team takes great pride in. Every tidy flower bed, clean pathway, and glowing fountain is the result of their dedication and care for this special space.

🔥 PLEASE REPORT FIRES IN THE CBD 🔥
As winter settles in, we have noticed an increase in fires being made on pavements, in public spaces, and inside dustbins around the CBD.

Regardless of the reason, these fires can quickly become dangerous and pose a risk to nearby businesses, vehicles, public infrastructure, and members of the public.

If you spot a fire, please report it immediately and provide the exact location, including the street name and nearest business or house number.

💧 A little extra TLC for the Garden of Remembrance 💧

After the recent storms and flooding, the pond water became muddy and debris collected around the pump system. Our WCID team lowered the water level to allow for a proper cleanup and maintenance of the pond area.

Ludfie even pulled on the gumboots and climbed in to help clear the debris and get everything flowing beautifully again. 🌿👏

🍂 Autumn has arrived in Worcester 🍂

The streets of our CBD are filled with the most beautiful autumn colours as the leaves begin to fall and the trees prepare for winter.

Our WCID maintenance team is out and about keeping the areas we look after neat and tidy, while nature puts on a spectacular seasonal display for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Our WCID maintenance team received new branded clothing and we think they look absolutely fantastic!
Not only does it give the team a smart and professional look, but it also helps the community easily recognise the hardworking men out in the streets every day keeping our CBD clean, neat, and cared for.

🌧️ Cleanup after the storm 🌬️

The recent storm and flooding left a trail of damage across our town, with fallen trees, broken branches, debris, and flooded areas affecting many parts of the CBD and surrounding communities.

Our WCID maintenance team jumped in to assist with the cleanup efforts and is also supporting BVM teams where possible to help restore affected areas and make spaces safe again.

During this difficult time, our hearts are especially with the families and residents who have suffered loss and damage due to the storm and flooding. We are also deeply thankful for every emergency worker, municipal team, disaster management official, volunteer, law enforcement officer, and community member working tirelessly day and night to help restore normality.

Worcester has always been a community that stands together in difficult times and once again we are seeing that spirit shine through. 💙

As the Breede Valley Municipality (BVM), we are making an urgent appeal to residents, businesses, faith-based organisations, and community stakeholders to assist vulnerable and displaced families currently being accommodated at various community halls across the Breede Valley following the severe weather conditions.

Several families have been temporarily relocated after being affected by heavy rainfall, flooding, and weather-related damage to their homes. We are calling on members of the public to donate essential relief items, including:
• Blankets and warm clothing
• Non-perishable food items
• Baby essentials and toiletries
• Mattresses and bedding
• Cleaning materials and other basic necessities

All donations can be delivered directly to the Breede Valley Fire & Rescue Services, where relief teams are coordinating emergency support for affected families. Every contribution, big or small, will go a long way in bringing comfort, dignity, and hope to those in need during this difficult time. We sincerely thank the public for their compassion, generosity, and continued support during this period of crisis.
