Bet Sheekoom is a Non-Profit Organisation and was established in 2001 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. This safe haven is dedicated to assisting destitute, abandoned or abused women and their children in crisis, by offering them
a safe alternative to the abusive environment that they
find themselves trapped in. We strive to awaken hope, rebuild lives and restore families by empowering women. Our outreach programmes offer guidance to women on the street who need assistance to leave a life of s*x work, domestic violence, substance-,
and s*xual abuse. Our holistic approach aims to achieve physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual well being via counseling, skills development, the necessary medical treatment & support groups. Women of any age, race, socio-economic background or faith are welcome to take refuge for as long as it takes to restore & equip them to start viable, new lives of
their own. Working with referrals from the SAPS and the R**e Crisis Centre, Bet Sheekoom is also used as a safe haven for victims of human trafficking and r**e. LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM
The purpose of our Life Skills Program is to facilitate an individuals’s growth from dependency to productive self-sufficiency, one day at a time.

𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞!

A radical and absurd reaction to the 6 female victims murdered in Kempton Park is women need to be more vigilant. How ridiculous is it that part of our society has to take extreme precautions before leaving the house just to get home alive.

Femicide has increased drastically, 9000 r**es this passed quarter. What is never recorded is the secondary trauma experienced by those left behind. If there are 10 Femicide cases a day, and this is convictions, then the average extended family and friends is at least 30. That's at least 300 people every day, 109500 people in immediate family and friends a year.

This doesn't take into account women in neighborhoods right through the country who are scared to leave the house because of these stats.
