Any foreign national who approaches SAPS or makes enquiries for assistance must be advised to contact their own Consulate or Embassy for support and arrangements to return to their country of origin.

Firefighters and emergency personnel work under extremely challenging conditions, often placing themselves at risk to protect lives, property, and communities. Their ability to respond effectively depends on safe and unhindered access to incident scenes.

𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝:
• Do not block access routes since emergency vehicles require clear and immediate access.
• Allow space for operations and keep a safe distance from active scenes.
• Do not interfere with equipment or operations in any way.
• Respect the safety of emergency personnel at all times.
• Theft, damage, or tampering with emergency equipment will not be tolerated.

Any interference, obstruction, or unsafe behaviour places lives at risk, not only those of the firefighters, but also the community members they are trying to assist.

Safety remains the top priority for Mossel Bay Municipality. This extends not only to the public, but also to the firefighters who are municipal employees and who carry out their duties with dedication and professionalism.

𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭

Where a scene is deemed unsafe, due to crowd behaviour, obstruction, or any form of threat, emergency teams may be withdrawn until it is safe to continue operations.

This is a necessary measure to protect personnel and ensure that emergency services can continue serving the broader community.

We asked earlier today for help with blankets and spare matrasses.

We have over 300 people, with a lot of woman and children under the age of 12, that we are hosting for safety till they can arrange their transport back to their country.

They don't need much, safety and and a blanket to cover them will help them.

If you can assist please drop off at Kwanonqaba Police station or Firebrigade.
