🎤 A Celebration of Art, Peace and Young Voices! 🦁

What a wonderful privilege it was to serve as the Master of Ceremonies at today's Lions District 410W Peace Poster Contest Judging, held at Bayside Mall.

Under this year's theme, "Harmony in Humanity," young artists shared their understanding of peace through creativity, imagination and some truly meaningful artwork.

What made today particularly special was seeing the enthusiasm of the children, the pride of their families and teachers, and the commitment of our Lions to creating opportunities for young people to express themselves.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to engage with fellow Lions, share a little more about the work we do in our communities and introduce visitors to the heart of Lionism.

My appreciation to District Governor Herman Laubcsher, District Chairperson Sharon Wright, our judges, organisers and everyone who contributed to the success of the event.

And to every young artist who participated; keep creating, keep dreaming and never underestimate the power of your voice.

Sometimes, the most powerful messages of peace don't need words.

They simply need a canvas. 🎨

World Mental Health Day – 10 October

Mental health affects every one of us in different ways, yet too many people still feel they have to struggle in silence.

This World Mental Health Day, let’s help break the stigma by creating spaces where people feel safe enough to speak, share, listen and be heard.

This year’s theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change,” reminds us that meaningful change starts when we listen to the people who have actually lived through mental health challenges.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer someone is not advice, it is simply our time, our understanding and a listening ear.

Every story matters. Every voice deserves to be heard.

🎙️ IN GOOD COMPANY | LIVE ON Community Impact Radio CIR

Join Bevil Lakay on Friday 9 October for an engaging conversation around:

BUSY, BOOKED AND TIRED: MUST WE EARN OUR REST?

Why do so many of us feel guilty when we slow down? Have we started wearing exhaustion like a badge of honour? As we head into World Mental Health Day, we’ll explore why rest is essential; not a reward we must earn.

Bevil will also chat to Cape Town photographer and digital creator Jaydin Stacks about his journey into photography, his creative process, the people he has worked with and his advice for young people hoping to enter the industry.
