OVERSTRAND WHALE BOXING CLUB (OWBC) Latest Tournament Update:
Eden District Tournament – Mossel Bay

On 17 October 2026, Overstrand Whale Boxing Club (OWBC) travelled to Mossel Bay, in the Eden District, with four boxers.

The tournament was hosted by Ikhaya Boxing Club. It was a large event, with more than 70 participants. OWBC attended the tournament to build stronger relationships with boxing clubs in the Eden District, as well as with other clubs in the Western Cape.

The tournament was a great success, with both male and female boxers showcasing their skills and talent. The Eden District continues to excel in the development of female boxers.

OWBC participated with four male boxers and achieved excellent results, winning three gold medals and one silver medal.

OWBC Results

1. Abulele Sukude – Gold medal
2. Iphemna Mbaba – Gold medal
3. Kolunga Ndileleni – Gold medal
4. Liyema Msebe – Silver medal

Travel Challenges

On the way to Mossel Bay, the team experienced an unfortunate setback when the vehicle they were travelling in broke down in Swellendam. The small car they were using became stuck in the middle of the road, causing a delay in their journey.

Fortunately, the coach had AA insurance, and the response team arrived quickly. The team also managed to book a taxi from Swellendam to Mossel Bay so that they could continue their journey and attend the tournament.

The team returned home safely after the tournament.

Outstanding Female Cadet Boxer

One of the highlights of the tournament was seeing an outstanding female cadet boxer from Knysna showcase her talent and skills. She was impressive in the ring and demonstrated great potential.

We are very proud of our great fighters!!💙💙💙💙🥊🥊
