Growing Impact, One Tree at a Time 🌳

At the recent We Are Africa event, we were proud to see Ryan Wallace purchase the first recycled plastic Baobab Tree of Love, Joy and Peace, handcrafted by Mama Yandi, and adopt it for Ukhanyo Primary School’s food garden.

This initiative supports our local fundraising efforts to sustain the Masiphumelele Creative Hub programs. It’s part of a bigger vision: to build a Food Lab in our center where kids can learn hands-on about nutrition, growing, and food systems.

We’re also expanding our Nourished Child awareness sessions with Grade R & 1 and Grade 6 & 7, so more learners can connect what they grow to what they eat and why it matters.

Thank you to Ryan Wallace for leading this act of adoption, and to the Are Africa team and Escape + Explore for inviting and hosting us. We’re grateful to be part of a network that backs community-led growth and creativity.

We’re delighted to share some beautiful news with our community. The Fenn Collection has made a generous donation that will touch lives in more ways than one.

In our kitchen, this gift means more meals shared, an extra day with our doors open, more laughter around the counter, and the quiet dignity of knowing that no one in our community needs to go hungry.

Through the Dignity Girl Club, it means paintbrushes in eager hands, tree-making with Mama Yandi, colours blooming across canvases, and young voices discovering confidence, creativity, and self-expression.

In our garden strip, it means seeds in the soil, green shoots pushing through, and a living reminder that growth and beauty can flourish even in the smallest of spaces. 💚

Big News from the Nourished Child Program!

We are celebrating a huge milestone — all of our Phase 1 garden strips have now been adopted!

This achievement is a true testament to the incredible tourism companies, families, and supporters who believed in our vision and stood with us in the spirit of generosity. This success is not just for us as an organisation, but for the community we serve with dignity and integrity.

Together, we are planting a seed of hope, nourishment, and opportunity.

A heartfelt thank you to Nonophela Travel the Drieme Family for adopting the final two strips in this phase. Your commitment helped us cross this important milestone in our sustainable growth journey, and we are deeply grateful.

We are excited to announce that our garden strips are ready for adoption by private businesses, with the official commencement on 2 February.

This initiative is about more than just greenery — it is about building a stronger community that can create its own sustainable development. Our community garden has already played a vital role in supporting those in need and recently helped prepare dinners for fire victims in our area.

From Sunnydale Garden, we harvested over 40 kg of spinach, and from Noordhoek Escape + Explore, 15 kg of potatoes — all of which were shared with affected families during this difficult time.

By adopting a garden strip, companies will not only contribute to environmental sustainability, but also to the direct upliftment of disadvantaged community groups.

🌼 The Circle of Leaena ~ November Gathering 🌺

On Saturday we visited Masi CreativeHub where we were introduced to their projects, including The Nourished Child and Garden Champions, by Founder and Circle Sister, Yandiswa Mazwana 🌻

We enjoyed their new space with tea and homemade treats, discussed challenges and future collaborations, and toured their beautiful new food garden at Masi High School 🥬

Looking forward to 2026 and the flourishing of The Circle of Leaena support network 🌸
