67 Minutes for Mandela Day 💚🌱

Although we celebrated a little later than 18 July, the spirit of Mandela Day was alive today.🇿🇦

Mama Yandi was inspired by the incredible number of young men who showed up to give their 67 minutes of service. Together, they maintained our adopted garden strip while learning practical gardening skills and the value of caring for their community.

At Masiphumelele Creative Hub, we remain committed to empowering young men through skills, knowledge, and purpose.

Growing Impact, One Tree at a Time 🌳

At the recent We Are Africa event, we were proud to see Ryan Wallace purchase the first recycled plastic Baobab Tree of Love, Joy and Peace, handcrafted by Mama Yandi, and adopt it for Ukhanyo Primary School’s food garden.

This initiative supports our local fundraising efforts to sustain the Masiphumelele Creative Hub programs. It’s part of a bigger vision: to build a Food Lab in our center where kids can learn hands-on about nutrition, growing, and food systems.

We’re also expanding our Nourished Child awareness sessions with Grade R & 1 and Grade 6 & 7, so more learners can connect what they grow to what they eat and why it matters.

Thank you to Ryan Wallace for leading this act of adoption, and to the Are Africa team and Escape + Explore for inviting and hosting us. We’re grateful to be part of a network that backs community-led growth and creativity.
