📖 Writing Prompt: “The Story That Changed Me”

Think about a book, story, or even a single character that stayed with you long after you finished reading.

✍️ Write about:
- What the story was about
- When you first read it and how you felt
- The exact moment it changed how you think, feel, or see the world
- Why you think this story mattered to you so much

đź’ˇ You can also imagine: What would you say to the author if you met them?

This powerful piece from The Guardian explores how modern education systems, constant assessment, and the pressure to produce measurable outcomes may be squeezing imagination out of childhood.

It asks an important question: what happens when children no longer have space to dream, wonder, invent, and imagine freely?

We believe creativity, storytelling, reading, and self-expression are not “extras” — they are essential to learning, confidence, and hope. Sometimes the most important growth cannot be measured on a rubric...

Writing Prompt: Words I Didn’t Understand Back Then

Sometimes the people who care about us most — a grandmother, grandfather, parent, teacher, coach, or community elder — share advice or wisdom that doesn’t make sense at the time. Maybe it feels confusing, old-fashioned, or even annoying.

But later, something happens that makes you remember those words. Suddenly, they mean something different.

What did they say?
Why didn’t you understand it at first?
And what happened that made those words come back to you?

Your challenge:
Write a story about a moment when someone’s advice or wisdom finally made sense.

Start your story with:
“I didn’t think much about their words at the time.”
