Dear Old Boy

Grade 8 2028 applications are now open, and we would be delighted to welcome the next generation of Kearsney families. If you have a son currently in Grade 6, we encourage you to submit his application, should you not have done so already.

As a member of the Kearsney family, you know the value of the friendships, opportunities, traditions and sense of belonging that make our school so special. We would be honoured to share that experience with your son.

Founders Black-Tie Dinner; a stylish evening of fun, friendship, and nostalgia as the Kearsney College Old Boys gather to honour their alma mater and the bonds that unite the Kearsney community.

Tonight, the Old Boys will celebrate the 30th occasion of the Black-Tie Dinner.

Today the Class of 1976 returned to the Hill to celebrate their 50th Reunion.

Joined by their fellow Old Boys from earlier years, the special occasion started with a welcoming tea and tour of the campus - it was magical to hear Old Boys share their memories of their time at Kearsney College.

This was followed by a special assembly in honour of the Class of 1976. Held in the chapel, with the Boys of the College.

The Class of 1976 then rang the Hulett bell before joining the Headmaster, Head and Deputy Head of School, and Heads of Houses for lunch.

It was fantastic to share a special morning with these Kearsney stalwarts.

Today we’re out at Cotswold Downs for the 2026 Founders Golf Day, which sees 80 golfers test their skills!🏌️

This event was first played at Durban Beachwood on the 75th Anniversary celebration of Kearsney College in 1996.

The late Jimmy Wood (1970 – KCOB Treasurer for many years) and Alastair Hipkin (Pembroke 1965 – former Durban Branch Chair) founded this annual event. Interestingly, there were traditionally no prizes except for the honour of playing for the Greyhound Golf Trophy.

Our 2026 Founders Week celebrations have begun with our much anticipated annual gathering between the KCOB and the MCOBA.

This event started around 2005, with a simple concept: good company, plenty of banter, stories from past encounters, and the inevitable debates about which school had enjoyed the greater success over the years.

In 2014 Kevin Trodd and Jem Nel introduced a new tradition- the “half and half jerseys”
This year’s recipients are Travis Duggan and
Kesh Aylward.

We look forward to a great Founders Week ahead and welcoming all the Old Boys back on the hill!

Congratulations to Sifiso Msomi, class of 2022, who was recently selected for the USSA National team squad and will compete at the upcoming CUCSA Games in Botswana.
The selection camp took place last month and Sifiso was the only player selected from KwaZulu-Natal!

Sifiso represented Kearsney Basketball 1st team in both 2021 and 2022. 🏀

Well done Sifiso, and all the best!⛹️
