Canine Distemper: A Deadly Virus You Can Prevent"

Canine Distemper is a highly contagious and often fatal virus that affects your dog’s respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems.

Symptoms include:

• Fever, coughing, eye/nose discharge

• Vomiting and diarrhoea

• Seizures or twitching

• Thickened paw pads ("hard pad disease")

How it spreads:
Through airborne droplets, shared bowls, or direct contact with infected animals.

Good news? It’s preventable.
The distemper vaccine is safe and effective. Puppies should start vaccines at 6–8 weeks and continue through their first year with regular boosters.

❄️ SWARTBERG PASS UPDATE

It’s snowing in the Klein Karoo! ❄️

This beautiful photo was taken by Ou Tol Pizzeria and Accommodation earlier this afternoon, showing the snowy conditions around the Swartberg Pass.

According to the Garden Route District Municipality, the Swartberg Pass remains closed to all traffic from both the Oudtshoorn and Prince Albert sides until further notice.

Motorists are urged to avoid the pass and make alternative travel arrangements.

Daar is 'n uitbraak van Parvo (katgriep) in die dorp. Alle diere wat nie ingeënt is nie, loop gevaar. Laat hulle asseblief so gou moontlik inent. Indien 'n dier siek is, moet dit van ander diere afgesonder word, aangesien die siekte hoogs aansteeklik is. Skakel asseblief 0739903782 (Dieresorg) vir hulp.

ADOPTION:

This cat is looking for a home. Has been dumped or arrived on a farm. Being attacked by the other cats on the farm. An affectionate & not feral cat, assumed male.

Will be vaccinated & sterilized before being homed. Needs an experienced cat owner please who knows how to adapt a cat to a new living situation. Home checks apply.

Meet Romeo! He is a roughly 4 year old male Boerboel, vaccinated & dewormed but not yet neutered (will be).

His previous family seems to have moved away & he is in need of a new forever home.

He is very loving & affectionate but would be best suited to a secure property where he can be an only dog as he can be quite possessive of his owner.
