🌍🎨 WELCOME BACK, JOHN!🎨🌍

Bright Haven is delighted to welcome back our wonderful volunteer, John Zunino, who has returned to Barrydale after his travels through Africa! ❤️

John will be back with us next week, continuing his beautiful Mosaic Art Project with our Bright Haven learners. We can’t wait to see how the project develops and to watch our children turn small pieces of tile into something meaningful and beautiful. 🧩✨

This afternoon, John spent some special time with our Bright Team boys, sharing stories and experiences from his travels. 🌍🗣️ It was a wonderful opportunity for our young people to hear about different places, cultures, people and adventures across Africa.

At Bright Haven, learning happens not only in the classroom, but through connection, creativity, conversation and shared experiences. 💛

Sometimes exciting things happen that require us to pause, make space, and change our plans — and we have some very important news to share with you soon. 💛
For this reason, our Bright Haven Fundraiser originally scheduled for 11 September 2026 will now take place on:
📅 FRIDAY, 16 OCTOBER 2026
📍 Karoo Art Hotel, Barrydale
🎟️ Tickets: R250 per person
✨ PLEASE NOTE: All tickets already purchased for 11 September will automatically remain valid for the new date. There is no need to purchase another ticket.
We are so grateful to everyone who has already supported this event, bought tickets, donated, sponsored us and helped us spread the word.
This is not goodbye — we're simply moving the celebration to a new date. 🌈

Bright Haven Fundraiser | 11 September 2026

Some evenings are about more than simply gathering together — they are about community, generosity, and creating brighter futures for our children. 💛

Bright Haven Barrydale is incredibly grateful to the Karoo Art Hotel for generously sponsoring our beautiful venue for the evening, giving our fundraiser a special space where our community can come together in support of our young people. 🌿✨

We are equally grateful to the incredibly talented Merinda Hill, who is sponsoring our entertainment for the evening and sharing her music and talent with us — all in support of the children of Bright Haven. 🎶❤️

There's never a dull moment at Bright Haven. This week we are busy with rehearsals for our event on 11th September whilst still continuing with our curriculum. Garden work and growing food with Gordon and team, creative projects and daily Cano lees en tel as well as daily yoga and breathwork.
We are so proud of these learners who continually give their 100 percent.
Learners need to feel valued, accepted and connected and here at Bright Haven we've worked hard to ensure our children get the best care.

💛 A Parent’s Words That Mean So Much to Us 💛

At Bright Haven, we believe that every child deserves to be seen, heard, loved and given the opportunity to discover their own unique gifts. 🌈✨

Today, we want to share this beautiful testimonial from Lydia Windvogel, a Bright Haven parent. Her words remind us why we do what we do every day:

“Thank You Bright Haven. While in thought and sitting here at home it came to me as a parent to just send an appreciation message. To thank you for all your time, effort by teaching our children to experience different type of skills that we never experienced and that we never really have the time to sit with our children. All of your efforts are not unseen. Every little thing are appreciated.

You are Godsend. Every precious moment counts and the children talk at home about Bright Haven.

We as parents just need to make a little more time with our kids, just by listening to them and hearing how their day was. Just by making time with your child you will hear amazing stories.”

Bright Haven for neurodivergent children is a safe space for children to learn in their own way. Children that were unable to read and write can read with confidence and write with understanding.
Each child has their own special gift, with small classes we have the patience and time to focus on the individual and bring out their best.

This Women’s Month, we celebrate Kaylee Van Rooi, one of our dedicated Bright Team Facilitators at Bright Haven. 🌈✨

Kaylee brings patience, love and genuine care into everything she does. Her belief is simple but powerful: every child deserves to be supported, encouraged and given the opportunity to grow. 🫶🏼

At Bright Haven, Kaylee focuses on skills development, helping our children discover their strengths, build confidence and work towards their dreams. She understands that with the right guidance, patience and encouragement, every child can shine in their own unique way. 🌟

Why Does Bright Haven Exist? 💛

Bright Haven exists because every child deserves to feel seen, valued, understood and given the opportunity to shine. In our rural community of Barrydale, many vulnerable and neurodiverse children need more than traditional education can offer. Bright Haven provides a safe, nurturing space where children can learn, create, move, express themselves and discover their strengths through art, music, yoga, life skills, permaculture, drama and so much more. 🌱🎨🧘‍♀️

We believe that with love, patience, compassion and the right support, every child can grow in confidence and discover their own unique potential.
