🌈✨ A Busy Week at Bright Haven ✨🌈
Although there hasn't been much activity on our social media pages this week, our classrooms have been filled with focus, learning, and creativity!

Our Grade 4 learners have been hard at work writing their exams, while the rest of our Bright Haven children kept busy with drawing, cutting, pasting, and other creative activities.

We were also delighted to welcome visitors from CAP and SOIL, who spoiled our children with some wonderful goodies. The excitement and joy on their faces were truly heartwarming!

A very special thank you to SOIL for the lovely and practical gifts. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our children. ❤️🙏

As exam season continues, we ask our Bright Haven family, friends, and supporters to please keep our children in your thoughts and prayers. We are so proud of each and every one of them for their hard work, determination, and courage. 📚✨

🧘‍♀️🌿 INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2026 IN BARRYDALE 🌿🧘‍♂️

Bright Haven Barrydale is proud to announce this year's International Yoga Day celebration in collaboration with the Indian Consulate in Cape Town.

📅 Date: 20 June 2026
📍 Venue: The Karoolkie, Bain Street, Barrydale
⏰ Time: 09:00 – 10:30

This year's global theme is "Yoga for Healthy Aging", highlighting the many benefits of yoga for physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing throughout all stages of life.

We are especially excited that our Bright Haven children, who have embraced yoga with enthusiasm and dedication, will form part of both the demonstration team and the audience. Their confidence, focus, and joy are a wonderful reflection of the positive impact yoga has had in their lives.

We are also honoured to welcome distinguished guests and dignitaries, including Mayor Francois du Randt, who will be joining us for this special community event.

✨ The event is FREE and open to everyone.
⚠️ Space is limited, so early arrival is encouraged.

Come and celebrate movement, mindfulness, connection, and healthy aging with us. Whether you are new to yoga or a regular practitioner, all are welcome!

At Bright Haven, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to shine in an environment where they feel safe, supported, and understood. 🌱✨

Our learners write their exams in their own classrooms — familiar spaces where they feel connected, calm, and able to focus better. By creating an environment that reduces stress and supports individual needs, we help our children show what they truly know and celebrate every achievement along the way. 💚📚

Safe spaces create confident learners, and we are so proud of every child taking this important step. 🌟

What started as a dream has grown beautifully in just a year and a half! Today, Bright Haven Neurodiverse School welcomes 20 incredible children each day from 8am–2pm into a structured, nurturing space where learning is fun, strengths are celebrated, and every child is encouraged to shine in their own unique way.

Bright Haven offers an innovative educational programme for neurodiverse and vulnerable children in Barrydale.

Our volunteer John has been very busy for the past few weeks on a beautiful project, bourne out of a connection to the children and realising that many of our children knew very little about their Khoi heritage.

From that realization, something meaningful was born.

Through yoga, reflection, and creativity — with guidance from Chief Peter of the Khoi — our children are being encouraged to connect with their roots, explore who they are, and express their spirit through art.

Each child creates a personal symbol of identity, transforming their drawings into mosaic artworks they can take home and hang on their walls — a reminder, especially in difficult moments, of where they come from and the strength that lives within them.

Along the way, they learn practical skills: focus, teamwork, measurement, planning, discipline, and pride in their work.

This is more than a skills programme.
It is connection.
It is belonging.
It is healing.
It is remembering.

Because every child deserves to know their story — and feel proud of it. 💛
