🌿 YOUTH MADRASAH 2026 | REGISTRATION NOW OPEN 🌿

Every child is unique — and not every child learns in the same way.

Some thrive in memorisation, others in recitation.
Some love calligraphy, history, biographies, or exploring the wonders of science.

At The IslamicText Institute Youth Madrasah, we acknowledge these differences and nurture them. Our goal is not to force one mould, but to unearth each child’s potential in a supportive, faith-centred environment.

This year, we are committed to empowering our children with:
✨ Confidence
✨ Beneficial Islamic knowledge
✨ Wisdom and understanding
✨ Compassion and strong character

📍 Location: IslamicText Institute, 90A Jupiter Road, Surrey Estate

🕙 Time: Saturdays | 10:00 – 12:00

A Journey Through Time with Al-Shafi‘i – Volume 4 📖✨

Last Sunday, 28 September, we had the honor of hosting the launch of A Journey Through Time with Al-Shafi‘i (Vol. 4) — a gathering filled with barakah, deep reflection, and a shared love for classical knowledge. 🌿

The mosque was alive with seekers of knowledge — hearts and minds eager to grow, connect, and celebrate this milestone together.

We were blessed with an incredible panel of speakers:

🎙 MC: Saliegh Salaam — CFA, Chief Investment Officer and leading figure in South Africa’s financial industry

💻 WebApp Launch & Presentation: Adiel Kader – MD & Co-founder of Solutions 365

🎤 Guest Speaker: Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool – a statesman whose journey spans activism, diplomacy, and global thought leadership

📚 Author: Shaykh Allie Khalfe – Scholar, Author & Educator

🙏 Vote of Thanks: Razack Rawoot – Senior Manager, Finance Business Partnering at Cape Town International Airport (and brother-in-law to Shaykh Allie)

🌹 Surprise Guest: Shaykh Sadullah Khan, who graced the gathering with a heartfelt poem in honor of Shaykh Allie’s birthday

A heartfelt thank you to Muhammadiyyah Mosque in Tennyson Street, Salt River, for graciously hosting this blessed event. 🕌

Thank you to everyone who took the time out to spend an enlightening morning with us, May Allah continue to bless you all immensely.

Truly, a day of gratitude, knowledge, and timeless inspiration. 💫

Here are some of the tried and tested adhkār recommended for the eve of Ruwa (Nisf Sha'bān):

1. Recitation of Surah Yasin 3 times with the following intentions:

الأولى: بنية طول العمر
A) Make the niyya for a long life (so that we may do more good deeds and renew and refresh our tawba).

الثانية: بنية دفع البلاء
B) Make the niyya to have calamities removed.
الثالثة: بنية الاستغناء عن الناس
C) Make the niyya to be less dependent on people (and more dependant on Allah).

2. Recite the attached dua (slide 2).

The preservation of human dignity (hifdh al-'ird) forms part of the (six) principles religion revolves on and comes with intrinsic benefit.

For example, if one treats employees like human beings and with respect, they will give you more than you can dream of, and you will find them attracted to you like a magnet. But, if one treats employees like numbers bereft of compassion, witness them fleeing from you as soon as the opportunity arises. Try it.

This basic human skill of how to treat the next person is applicable to all spheres of work, especially institutes and places of religious knowledge. Allah ﷻ says to His Prophet ﷺ in the Quran, "Were you cruel and hard of heart, they would have certainly fled from you." ( Al-Imran: 3:159 )

The six principles are listed in the photo below.

Just behind the Azhar Mosque in Cairo, lies buried the Hanafi jurist, muhaddith, gnostic, and wali of the awliya, Imam Badruddin al-'Ayni, author of the treasured commentary on Sahih Bukhari. While he was authorng his commentary, it happened that the Shafi'i master, Ibn Hajr al-Asqallani was also completing his own Shafi'i commentary on Bukhari's Sahih.

Both the Hanafi Al-Ayni and the Shafi'i Ibn Hajr taught at the same madrasah, and sat at the same pillar. One day the pillar collapsed and Imam 'Ayni blamed the stones (hajr), while Ibn Hajr blamed the foundation ('ayn), and the two just couldn't get along afterwards 🙂.

If these walls could talk, they would takes us on a mesmerizing journey through time.
