Wishing a Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers and friends of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated! Today, we celebrate all fathers and father figures who are a constant source of strength and support for their families.

We also hold space for those who are grieving, remembering, or honoring the fathers they carry in their hearts.

Happy !

Today we honor the legacy of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas who were finally informed of their freedom, some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was those people, and the generations of Texans who came after them, who made the bold declaration to celebrate this day, marking a reality we know far too well in this country: freedom may be delayed, but it will never be denied.

Though our fight for freedom sadly continues, today we pause to celebrate and embrace the joy of our ancestors who believed in the possibilities of a more promising tomorrow. And in that joy, we remain anchored, steadfast in our pursuit of true freedom and justice for all.

The Leavenworth Alumnae Chapter was among dozens of organizations riding or walking during the parade portion of the Leavenworth Juneteenth celebration, organized by the Leavenworth NAACP and community.

During the festival, chapter members conducted voter registration and sign-ups for the chapter's 2026-2027 Delta GEMS/Delta Academy program in addition to sharing information about the chapter's programs, events and activities.

And even when the forecasted inclement weather became a reality, chapter members braved the downpour, carefully but swiftly packing up the booth and ensuring sorors returned home safely.

Juneteenth (June + nineteenth) is the federal holiday that commemorates when 250,000 slaves in Texas were freed by Union soldiers on June 19, 1865 -- more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation declared freedom for more than 3 million slaves living in Confederate states.

LOVE AND LEGACY. The ladies of the Leavenworth Alumnae Chapter recently concluded the sorority year celebrating the accomplishments under the leadership of outgoing president Chevelle Lewis Wagstaff, 2024-2026, first during the final chapter meeting and then a sisterhood luncheon.

We are thankful for Soror Lewis Wagstaff, the executive board, committee chairs, and our members for their dedication, commitment, and tireless hours of service. Our work has helped move our chapter forward and laid a strong foundation for continued success as we move into a new biennium under the leadership of newly elected president Valerie Ramos.

We also had the opportunity to celebrate Soror Lewis Wagstaff's birthday 🎂 during the luncheon, serenading her with Stevie Wonder's version of the birthday song!

Cheers to another incredible sorority year!

Happy Pride Month to our sorors, partners, and friends!

Delta Sigma Theta has always stood for love, inclusion, and respecting the full dignity of every person. While we remain anchored in that legacy, we also acknowledge the need to continue to evolve with intention by championing affirming policies, and forging a culture where every member is seen, valued, and protected.

This Pride Month, we honor and celebrate the beautiful diversity and strength of the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to being allies in the fight for a better future where the freedom to love and exist in one's authentic identity is not contingent on the political climate. Especially when that freedom is being challenged, we choose to show up louder, love harder, and stand firmer in our commitment to justice for all.
