There is plenty of antidotal information that circulates inside the walls of the USBD. The military does not provide inmates much information about the process or what to expect in the federal system. Some of the rumors: r**e and murder are rampant, the food is horrible, twenty-three-hour lockdowns are among the most common. The military correctional officers leave inmates with this nugget "you don't want to go to the feds; it's better here."

Black and other minority service members are more likely to face punishment than their white comrades in all of the military services, top uniformed lawyers admitted Tuesday, telling lawmakers that they had yet to determine reasons behind such disparities.

“This is a very grave problem that, if left unchecked, could undermine the [combat] readiness of our armed forces,” said Rep. Trent Kelly, R-Miss., a brigadier general in the Mississippi Army National Guard.

1LT Brown was convicted of sexually assaulting an enlisted military police. He was accused of failing to obtain proper verbal consent despite mutual kissing and sensual touching. No Drugs or Alcohol were involved in this incident. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. This is a travesty that needs a spotlight placed on it.
