1 “smelly secret” about whales that environmentalists don't tell you. 🐋😅

When whales breathe, they expel air with such force that the condensed v***r reaches up to approximately 3 meters high. 🐳🐳

The speed of their exhalation is very high with a power that comes from their large lungs that have the capacity to contain thousands of liters of oxygen. 😯

And here comes the “smelly secret” 🤣🤭: The smell is sharp and overpowering, almost tangible on the tongue — a foul blend of rot and salt, like a mingling of flatulence and fish.

It’s the stench of hundreds of gallons of air expelled from its lungs, tainted with the sour fumes of half-digested krill — hundreds of pounds of these slow-fermenting crustaceans stewing in its stomach🐟🤢

🌎ECOSYSTEM in crisis.
Experts warn that the critically endangered southern resident killer whales are a stark indicator of an ecosystem in crisis.

TAHLEQUAH, the grieving orca who captured global attention in 2018 by swimming over 1,000 miles (1,600 km) with her dead newborn calf, has tragically lost another calf. Once again, she is carrying the body, an event researchers describe as a “devastating” blow to this struggling population.

Tahlequah belongs to the critically endangered southern resident killer whale group, a unique ecotype that scientists fear is at risk of disappearing entirely from the Pacific coast.

🐋Whale watching has become extremely popular and a major industry for many countries.
Since the International Whaling Commission implemented a global moratorium on commercial whaling in 1986, whaling has been banned in many regions and has proven unprofitable over recent years.

However, some countries—including the Faroe Islands, Norway, Iceland, Greenland, and Japan—continue whaling by exploiting legal loopholes.

It’s disheartening to see restaurants in whale-watching destinations selling whale meat, while simultaneously promoting costly whale-watching tours.
Local communities are no longer as reliant on whale meat and have plenty of other food options.

🐋Whales are vital to the ecosystem and essential for our survival.

👀How can we make their governments understand this?

🙏In the meantime, tourists, please choose other food options! Thank you.
