𝙁𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠

Tuna entered Netball Samoa with a background in athletics and volleyball, stepping into a space largely unfamiliar to him. At first, the environment was outside his comfort zone, but his quiet determination and eagerness to learn quickly shone through. He embraced every opportunity to contribute, proving that courage often begins with simply showing up and being willing to grow.

Though reserved, Tuna’s actions spoke louder than words. His strong work ethic, professionalism, and positive attitude made him a reliable presence within the organisation. Once given direction, he carried out his responsibilities with focus and efficiency, embodying the values of discipline and commitment that inspire others to follow his example.

During his time with Netball Samoa, Tuna provided valuable support spanning across several key operational areas, including:

Each task revealed his adaptability and resilience, showing that true leadership is not always about being the loudest voice, but about consistently building trust through action.

Most inspiring was Tuna’s growth in confidence and his reflections on future pathways. Initially uncertain about pursuing a Diploma in Sport, he came to see the doors education could open and the impact he could make beyond the field.

Netball Samoa is proud of his journey and grateful for his service. As he prepares for the National Athletics Competition, we celebrate his courage to step beyond boundaries and look forward to the remarkable heights he will continue to reach.

The selectors have named a 19-player wide squad for the SNA LD Open Men, following the latest round of trials. Squad includes two players under special consideration.

This selection is an important step in the pathway, with players now competing for a place in the final squad as preparations continue for the SNAC Competition.

Fa’afetai tele le faaeaea i afioga Visceta Meredith (SMSC President) and Seraphine Mata’ia (SSN Tournament Director) for their leadership and dedication in making the event such a success. Faamalo ma faafetai foi to the rest of the SSN 2026 Organizing Committee.

We were honoured to support the tournament’s officiating, supplying experienced umpires and bench officials who ensured fair play, smooth match operations, and a safe environment for all participants. A special acknowledgement to our officials for their professionalism and commitment throughout the week. Moreover, assigning some of our members to serve as commentators for livestream and broadcast.

Congratulations to our local coaches who have stepped forward to guide our players in preparation for the SSN tournament: 𝐒𝐞𝐢𝐮𝐥𝐢 𝐄𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐚 (𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬), 𝐀𝐤𝐢𝐫𝐚 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐚 (𝐀𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐬), 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐲𝐥 𝐓𝐚𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐥𝐢 (𝐀𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐬), 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡, 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐮 (𝐎𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬). A special mention also goes to 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐐𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐢 for his leadership in bringing the wonderful Salad Bowl Team from Fiji this year, as well as to Sharon Schwalger (Deporres), Faaiva Tolupeni (Aquinas), and Fong Chan Sau (Avila) for their dedicated service as Assistant Coaches.

Furthermore, four prominent figures in Samoan Netball: Linda Vagana, Amorangi Malesala, Pelesa Semu, and Tifaimoana defender, Faamu Muliaga- served as SSN Ambassadors. Their coaching and mentoring made a tangible difference to the players’ performances and development.
