SVSG Samoa

SVSG Samoa Founded in 2005, SVSG provides integrated and personalized services for victims of crime.
(1)

Initially set up to care, support, and help victims of sexual crimes, SVSG saw after the first few cases it handled, that victims of other areas also sought to get help. As such, SVSG has now extended its arms to embrace victims in any area of need, whether it be domestic violence, harassment in the work place, victims of poverty, etc.

At The Campus of Hope, we believe that every volunteer has the power to make a lasting difference in a child’s life.

For the past two years, Mrs. Rebecca Hoar generously volunteered her time and by reading to the children at the Campus of Hope, giving our children the opportunity to learn new skills, explore another culture, and dream beyond their circumstances. Her dedication is a beautiful reminder of the impact volunteers can have when they choose to share their gifts with others.

SVSG warmly welcomes individuals who are willing to serve, teach, mentor, and inspire our children through their experiences and talents.

Fa’afetai tele lava, Mrs. Rebecca Hoar for your faithful service and for being part of the SVSG family. We wish you and your family God’s continued blessings on your next chapter.

Finding Strength and Hope

This victim was only 17 when her life was shaken by abuse from her cousin. It was a painful experience, but this young lady showed courage by stepping forward and seeking help. She found safety at the Campus of Hope, where she began her journey of healing.

At the Campus, this brave girl was able to continue her schooling and enjoy everyday activities that brought her joy, from studying Samoan language and English to baking cupcakes and playing sports. These simple experiences helped her regain confidence and reminded her that life could still be full of hope and laughter.

The court has since delivered justice. The perpetrator was sentenced for 4 years imprisonment, bringing closure and accountability. For our brave young girl here, this outcome was not just about punishment, but about knowing her voice mattered and that the law stood with her.

After a year of care and support, this young girl grew stronger. She learned independence, resilience and how to cope with challenges. On 25 May 2026, she was released from the Campus of Hope, ready to return to her family and community with renewed strength.

Her story is one of survival and courage. She leaves the Campus not as a victim, but as a young woman who has overcame hardship and is prepared to embrace her future with hope.

Strengthening Early Childhood Development Across Samoa 🇼🇸

The Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG), in partnership with UNICEF, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development, successfully conducted a two-day SEED Training on Early Childhood Development (ECD) for community and youth representatives.

The training focused on key areas including Early Childhood Development, child health and immunization, and the use of a digital application for community data collection and reporting. A total of 30 community and youth representatives under SVSG actively participated, strengthening their knowledge and skills to better support children and families within their communities.

This important initiative highlights the power of partnership and community engagement in promoting the healthy growth and development of children throughout Samoa. By equipping local representatives with practical knowledge and digital tools, we are building stronger community support systems and improving access to services that help children thrive.

SVSG extends its sincere appreciation to all partners, facilitators, and participants for their commitment to creating a safer, healthier, and brighter future for Samoa’s children.

Empowering women today for stronger families and a brighter Samoa 🇼🇸👩🏽‍💼💼

This initiative is made possible through the support of the British High Commission Apia, Samoa 🇬🇧🇼🇸. We extend special acknowledgement to SVSG Patron Queen Camilla, His Excellency Gareth Hoar and his good lady, together with the dedicated team at the British High Commission (Samoa).

The Nofotane Project under the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG), with more than 4,000 registered members, selected 20 participants for today’s training on financial literacy and marketing. The goal is to strengthen capacity for Nofotane women with micro-businesses, supporting their transition into formalised enterprises. This is about building sustainable businesses and stronger futures.

A heartfelt thank you to our trainer and facilitator, Liliolelagi Annette, for her valuable contribution in guiding today’s participants ❤️.

At Nofotane, we believe that when women are economically empowered 💪🏽, families and communities become stronger and safer 🏡✨.

🤍 We help. We support. We listen. We do not judge.

Together, let us continue building an economically empowered Samoa for peaceful and happy families 🇼🇸✨

🤝🇼🇸🇨🇳 A Meaningful Visit from Friends of SVSG

The Samoa Victims Support Group (SVSG) was honoured to welcome Ms. Li Wenjun, wife of His Excellency Mr. Fei Mingxing, together with colleagues from the Chinese Embassy, during a special visit to our office and programs.

The visit was accompanied by a generous donation, reflecting their shared commitment to supporting vulnerable members of our community and contributing towards the building of a safer, more caring, and compassionate society for all.

During their visit, our guests learned more about the work of SVSG, particularly the Nofotane Project, which continues to empower women through skills development, economic opportunities, and pathways to independence. The delegation also showed their support by visiting the Nofotane Store and purchasing products handcrafted by the talented women participating in the program.

We are sincerely grateful to Ms. Li Wenjun and the Chinese Embassy team for their kindness, friendship, and continued support of SVSG’s mission. Partnerships such as these help strengthen our efforts to provide hope, protection, and opportunities for those most in need.

Fa’afetai tele lava for standing with SVSG and helping create brighter futures for vulnerable women, children, and families throughout Samoa. ❤️

“Every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to transform lives. We are grateful for the continued friendship and support of Ms. Li Wenjun and the Chinese Embassy as we work together to uplift and empower vulnerable families in our communities.”

Farewell and Fa’afetai to Ambassador Gareth Hoar and Family

Last night, the Board and Management of the Samoa Victims Support Group (SVSG) gathered to bid farewell to one of our valued friends and supporters, His Excellency Ambassador Gareth Hoar, his wife Rebecca, and their beautiful daughter Lilly, as they prepare to return to the United Kingdom following the completion of their diplomatic posting in Samoa.

Throughout his tenure, Ambassador Gareth has been a strong advocate for SVSG and played an instrumental role in helping secure support through the European Union for our Nofotane Program, enabling us to continue empowering and supporting vulnerable women and families throughout Samoa.

One of the most significant milestones during his time in Samoa was the acceptance by Her Majesty Queen Camilla to become the Patron of SVSG, a tremendous honour that has further strengthened the profile and work of our organization.

Rebecca has also touched the lives of many children at our Campus of Hope. Every Thursday afternoon, she faithfully volunteered her time reading stories to the children, bringing joy, encouragement, and a love of learning. Together, Gareth and Rebecca lovingly adopted their daughter Lilly during their time in Samoa, making Samoa forever a special part of their family story.

On behalf of the SVSG Board, Management, staff, and the children and families we serve, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Gareth, Rebecca, and Lilly for their friendship, compassion, and unwavering support.

We wish them safe travels and every success, happiness, and blessing as they begin their next chapter back in the United Kingdom. Though they may be leaving Samoa, they will always remain part of the SVSG family.

Fa’afetai tele lava and tofa soifua🇼🇸🇬🇧

“Your kindness, friendship, and commitment to the people of Samoa have left a lasting legacy. Thank you for standing alongside SVSG and helping us make a difference in the lives of those most in need. We wish you and your family every blessing in the years ahead.”

A heartfelt thank you to Suzanne Niko and her family for visiting the Samoa Victims Support Group once again today. Suzanne first visited SVSG in February this year, and we are truly humbled by the love and support shown by her and the wonderful Melbourne Samoan Community.

Through their collective efforts and generosity, they were able to organize and donated goods to support our work and the families we serve, alongside a generous cash donation of $10,000 SAT.

Your kindness, compassion, and commitment to giving back to Samoa means so much to us. Fa’afetai tele lava for standing with SVSG and helping us continue our mission of supporting vulnerable children, women, and families in our community.

May God continue to bless you all abundantly for your caring hearts and generous spirit. ❤️🇼🇸
